Red Carpet Review: Selena Gomez Sparkles in Michael Kors at the Season 2 Premiere of Only Murders in the Building!

If you haven’t watched season 1 of Only Murders in the Building on Hulu, stop reading & go do it–all 10 episodes!

However, if you’re excited for season 2 to drop TODAY, just like I am, you’ll be extra psyched to see the show’s star, Selena Gomez, in all of her silver sparkly glory at the season 2 premiere in Los Angeles yesterday. With a cut-out & super high slit gown by Michael Kors, plus a beachy/glam ponytail, shimmering hoop earrings by Effy Jewelry (shop similar here), & makeup, no doubt, from her Rare Beauty collection, this is Selena’s best red carpet look EVER, IMO. She’s poised, polished, & perfectly glistening with such a modern take on a classic Hollywood aesthetic. The range that she displays on the red carpet, when performing on stage, & on the show as the sarcastic Mable Mora is admirable & evocative, cementing her status as a major player in the entertainment industry who is only just getting started (with over 100 acting credits to her name & 9 albums to her name)!

With that in mind, I’ve been ooh-ing & aah-ing at all the latest celebrity looks that have hit the red carpet because there are so many beautiful designs, recalling Old Hollywood decadence & inspiring me to get a little extra glam every day when it comes to lace, sequins, jewel tones, & drama.

Actress / director Elizabeth Banks sparkled in a striped sequined Dolce & Gabbana column gown with jewelry by Irene Neuwirth & a black clutch at the Los Angeles premiere of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2. The Voice coach Gwen Stefani hit the red carpet for the 2015 Baby2Baby Gala in a black one-shoulder floral dress by Marchesa with jewelry by Nigaam, EFFY Jewelry, & Norman Silverman, with Rene Caovilla pumps. Project Runway judge Heidi Klum in a plum Zac Posen ball gown with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry at the 2015 Bambi Awards. Two-time Oscar-winner Hilary Swank was shimmering in a black & white Naeem Khan long sleeve gown with drop earrings & a black clutch at the 2015 Bambi Awards. It-girl Jennifer Lawrence dazzled in a white silk illusion-paneled Dior evening gown with jewelry by Graziela Gems at the Los Angeles premiere of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.

A lot happened in Hollywood this past week, especially when it came to the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, as well as the premiere of Furious 7 & the Samsung Galaxy Event. Some of the top trends were playing with patterns & textures, as well as mixing separates & classic gowns reinvented for the 2015 woman.

Camilla Belle played with structure in a navy one-shoulder asymmetric David Koma dress with nude ankle strap Ann Taylor pumps at the Forward by Elyse Walker event. Singer Ciara made an appearance on Live with Kelly & Michael in a strapless white Grecian-inspired dress with two-toned sandals. Actress Claire Danes looked chic in a navy metallic printed organza lurex Prabal Gurung dress with blue pumps at a screening of Homeland. Rapper Iggy Azalea wowed on the red carpet in a white crop top & blue printed skirt by Temperley London at the Nickelodeon Kids’s Choice Awards. The always perfect Jennifer Lopez showed off her own designs & style in a Jennifer Lopez for Kohl’s blouse & shorts with rings by Effy Jewelry & metallic Giuseppe Zanotti stilettos.
