Watch This Style: Christina Aguilera’s 5 Most Stylish Videos!

I’ve been thinking long & hard about what I would post in Watch This Style when featuring pop star / The Voice mentor, Christina Aguilera, since it would most certainly contain all the musical numbers from Burlesque. However, this post is focusing solely on Christina’s best videos from her albums.  While there are so many gorgeously styled videos to choose from, my favorites include “Hurt,” “Ain’t No Other Man,” “The Voice Within,” “Fighter,” & “Not Myself Tonight.”

Perhaps sometime in the future, I’ll feature more videos from the Grammy winner, but I love that there’s a wide variety of styles ranging from Old Hollywood to gothic to futuristic. For more stylish music videos, be sure to check out Katy Perry, Madonna, & Whitney Houston! Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Katy Perry’s Top 5 Most Stylish Music Videos!

To be honest, I haven’t always loved Katy Perry, but I think that’s mostly b/c of the media’s attention given to the star not for her singer-songwriter status.  However, you can’t deny that she’s pretty magnetic to watch, whether in concert or in one of her always fabulous & fashionable music videos.  She’s got the pinup-girl-next-door vibe down & she makes no apologies for it.  When on the red carpet, she often goes over the top in her cartoon-inspired candy-coated get-ups, but I prefer her more natural look, as seen in music videos like “The One That Got Away,” “I Kissed A Girl,” and “Teenaged Dream.” In addition, I’ve included videos for “Part Of Me” and “Firework,” which I think capture Katy’s undeniable sense of glamour, yet she’s still relatable as a young woman in the world looking for love.  Watch the videos below & share with us which one is your favorite! Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: A First Look At AnnaSophia Robb in ‘The Carrie Diaries!’

It’s been a long time coming, but The Carries Diaries are currently underway. Upcoming actress AnnaSophia Robb is filling the very fashionable Louboutins of Sarah Jessica Parker in the role of the beloved Carrie Bradshaw!  I’ve been scouring the internet for set photos since the show is in production & we hear more & more about casting news everyday.  Although we haven’t heard anything yet about younger Charlottes, Samanthas, or Mirandas appearing on the show, I’m super excited to share what I’ve found.  It seems like the younger 80s version of Carrie is true to the older HBO character that we’ve grown to adore!

What do you think of the new CW show so far? Would you watch it? Do you think AnnaSophia does Carrie justice? Happy Styling!

Runway Rundown / Watch This Style: Fashion Star Designers @Saks, Macy’s, & H&M!

On Tuesday nights, NBC’s Fashion Star airs its 4th episode, featuring designers who market their creations for buyers from Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s, & H&M.  These designers are under the watchful eyes of mentors Nicole Richie, Jessica Simpson, & John Varvatos.  The show is hosted by supermodel Elle Macpherson, & allows shoppers to buy the winning looks online after the show, as well as in stores the following day.

Take a look at some of the winning looks, which aren’t all available for purchase anymore, but I love how easy Style Darlings can access these designs right away.  Even though I’m a super duper Project Runway addict, this show is happily filling in the fashionable gap for me.  Check out the video posted below in case you haven’t seen the show yet!

Happy Styling!

Cover Craze: Miranda Kerr Hits Brooklyn For Harper’s Bazaar!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

In the April 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar, with actress Mila Kunis on the cover, Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr is featured in a 50s-inspired fashion spread shot in the fine city of Brooklyn by photographer Terry Richardson.  Now I might’ve just flipped through this spread in the past, surmising it up just for the fashion, but now as a full-time writer in Brooklyn (although I’m still commuting home to Long Island), I can appreciate the beauty behind the city that has taught me more about all the reasons why I love the suburbs! Yes, I said it!

However, I think this is an amazing shoot, especially with the regal & vintage designs of Dolce & Gabbana, Oscar de la Renta, Derek Lam, Donna Karan, Bulgari, Van Cleef & Arpels, Elizabeth & James, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, & Prada (just to name a few). There’s so much high fashion going on here, Miranda puts the women of Mad Men to shame! She looks like an even more glamorous mix between Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and Grace Kelly! Not to mention that below the gallery here is an exclusive video behind the shoot, which was inspired by 1960s Italian actress, Monica Vitti.

I used to obsessively tear out the pages of my favorite fashion magazines to keep in what I like to call an “inspiration book” to help me put outfits together, get motivated to blog, or for that one day way way waaaay in the future when I’d dabble in my own desiging, but instead of collecting the stacks of paper in a super heavy binder, I’ve decided to post them for my readers. What do you think of Miranda’s shoot? Do you recognize these spots in Brooklyn?

Watch This Style: Karl Lagerfeld Directs “The Tale Of A Fairy” For Chanel’s 2012 Cruise Collection!

There have been quite a few videos coming out lately from big designers like Givenchy, Marni for H&M, & Christian Siriano.  The latest & perhaps most beautiful to join the arsenal of fashionable videos is the Karl Lagerfeld-directed short film “The Tale of a Fairy,” for Chanel‘s 2012 Cruise collection.  Perhaps the dialogue & story aren’t the most cinematically impressive, but you can’t deny that it’s a visually exciting with sleek, clean line & is a fitting, yet classic homage to the original icon of the fabulous French brand, Coco Chanel.  I personally love the layered pearl necklaces, menswear inspiration, oversized sunglasses, & black & white ensembles. Who doesn’t???

Watch This Style: Madonna’s Most Fashionable Music Videos!

I’ve been talking about Madonna a lot lately, especially since her Super Bowl debut & I really wish the press would stop slamming her for an underwhelming performance.  She’s in her 50s & definitely has the skills to put on a great show, although I would’ve liked to have heard some more of her older songs which are certainly fan favorites.  It was really hard to pick out only five videos, but here’s are my favorites, both new & old.

For more music video-inspiration, check out more in my Wacth This Style category, including Lady Gaga, Whitney Houston, & Gwen Stefani.  Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Liv Tyler Rocks Out For The Latest Givenchy Campaign For ‘Very Irresistible’!

Liv Tyler has been a spokesmodel for the French label Givenchy for quite some time now.  She’s showing off her rock roots & killer style in a new ad campaign for the brand’s fragrance Very Irresistible. While singing along to “Need You Tonight,” originally recorded by INXS, she looks amazing & puts other promo ads like Charlize Theron for Dior & Mena Suvari for Christian Siriano to shame! The video reminds me of a mix of Rihanna’s style meets Michael & Janet Jackson’s “Scream.” Check out the video & give Liv’s vocal chops a listen! Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Lipstick Jungle Has Been On My Mind!

There aren’t very many short-lived television shows that stick with me, but without a doubt, Lipstick Jungle is one of them & I’m so happy to have dvds of both seasons, but I still want more from the show that is no longer on the air (boo NBC!).  However, I was lucky to come across some style inspiration in the form of this video with a behind-the-scenes look at the styles worn by characters Nico, Wendy, & Victory, played respectively by Kim Raver, Brooke Shields, & Lindsay Price.  Who was your favorite on the show? Which were your favorite scenes? Could Nico’s romance with Kirby get any hotter?! If only!

For more on the long, lost but not forgotten show, check out my previous post here.  Take a look at the video below & share it with your fellow Style Darlings! Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Celebrating Whitney Houston’s Music Has Never Been More Stylish!

Sadly, last night singer / actress Whitney Houston died.  As soon as I heard the news, I did a quick write-up for Movie Buzzers & rediscovered the impact that she’s had on where pop music is today.

In tribute of her memory, I’m featuring five of my favorite & most stylish Whitney moments of performances & music videos, much like I’ve done in the past for Beyonce, Gwen Stefani, & Lady Gaga.

Some of my personal favorites include “I Will Always Love You,” “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me),” “It’s Not Right, But It’s Okay,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” & “I’m Every Woman.”

Be sure to keep an eye on for more celebration of Whitney, one of the greatest voices in the last century, during tonight’s Grammy awards ceremony, for which I will be covering in my Red Carpet Review. Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Sofia Coppola Directs Marni For H&M!

I promise, I promise, I will start posting some shopping tips & great style deals once again very soon! However, I keep finding all these great videos to post about, including the Sofia Coppola-directed commercial for Marni‘s upcoming collaboration with H&M, which hits stores March 8th. The video stars actress Imogen Poots, and the song “Avalon” by Bryan Ferry.  In addition, I found a behind-the-scenes video which features commentary from Marni founder & creative director, Consuelo Castiglioni.

Also, be sure to check out my latest column for Culture Mob on A Dash of Fashion about Marni’s collaboration with H&M! Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Full Pilot Episode of “Smash!”

I’m loving watching the pilot episode of Smash, starring Katharine McPhee as an aspiring Broadway actress.  She’s one of my favorite American Idol finalists & I couldn’t wait to see how she was going to handle such a demanding role on the new NBC musical drama.  The show focuses on the upstart of a new musical about the life of Marilyn Monroe (of course, you know I’m all over this!) & I found a link on YouTube of the full pilot episode.  If you haven’t seen it yet, take a look at the video below! Also, I’ve included the video for Katharine McPhee singing Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful.” Happy Styling!

Watch This Style / Fashion Flashback: Blake Lively Takes On Marilyn Monroe In This Week’s Gossip Girl!

During this week’s episode of Gossip Girl, the show celebrated its 100th episode of upper East side luxury with a tribute to Marilyn Monroe‘s famous song “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend.”  Serena, played by Blake Lively, starred in her own dream sequence, recreating the dance number, featuring the male cast, as well as a cameo from Blair herself, played by Leighton Meester, paying tribute to the more demure & classic style icon, Audrey Hepburn.  It took a few days for me to finally find a video of the scene, but I have it here for my Style Darlings.  Also, if you’d like to compare it to the original, there’s also video of Marilyn’s version, something every gal should see! Happy Styling!

Runway Rundown / Watch This Style: Mena Suvari Stars in Christian Siriano’s Latest Ad Campaign!

One of my favorite Project Runway designers, Christian Siriano, has cast actress Mena Suvari as his muse in his latest Spring / Summer 2012 ad campaign, featuring ballgowns & nautical-inspired separates.  Siriano, whose looks have been worn by starlets like Christina Hendricks, Heidi Klum, & Sarah Hyland, has made a name for himself as an over-the-top ballgown designer, but this collection shows a more tailored & thoughtful side to the Season 4 winner, but bold hues like tangerine and chartreuse show that he’s staying true to his roots.  Check out the images below, as well the short film, featuring the colorful & flowy chiffon designs! Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: My Five Favorite Lady Gaga Videos / Performances!

Lady Gaga is a commited artist when it comes to her music, performances, & costumes.  In recent months, she’s been showing off her softer side in high-end designs by Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Versace, Michael Kors, & Salvatore Ferragamo.  I think it’s time to feature some of my favorite Lady Gaga style moments, whether they’re music videos, or videos of live performances.  What are your favorites?  Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: ‘It’s A Brad, Brad World’ (on Bravo) & We Just Live In It!

It’s not very often that I feature style for guys on here, but if there’s one stylist & budding style icon to watch out for, it’s Brad Goreski, former assistant to super stylist & designer, Rachel Zoe.  When I first learned that Brad left Rachel’s side, I was a little heartbroken, but Bravo quickly picked up the hilarious personality for his very own reality show, which airs on Monday nights.  The first episode aired this week & I absolutely loved it & wanted to share my love all of things style with readers, including this little red carpet clip of Brad talking about what to expect on the series’ first season!  His celebrity clients (so far) include Jessica Alba & Keri Hilson, but I’m sure there’ll be more on horizon as he makes a bigger name for himself away from the shadow of the all-powerful & mighty Rachel Zoe.  Brad’s adorable, well-dressed, & a very hard-working stylist, making his way up the style ladder & I really want him to be my GBFF!  Show your support by checking out the video below, courtesy of YouTube, & check your local listings for when the show airs! Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Emmy Rossum Makes The Talk Show Rounds!

It’s been quite the crazy week & I haven’t a minute to do any online browsing to post what’s the latest in affordable fashion, but I’ve found that Emmy Rossum is doing all the celebrity-inspired style work for me.  While she’s making the rounds promoting the second season of Shameless, she recently stopped by Chelsea Lately & Conan.  Not only was Golden Globe nominee charming & funny, but the girl’s definitely got some serious style!  Check her out in glittery black Christian Louboutins, as well as in a frilly white dress by Cynthia Rowley with eye-popping blue heels! Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Style Darling Wishing You A Happy New Year (With Some Help from Sex & the City)!

While preparing for my very lovely & exciting New Year’s Eve date tonight, I started thinking about the year 2011, which is when Style Darling really became a vehicle for me to share such a big part of myself as not only a writer, but as a woman, friend, world-traveler, & shoe lover.  I’ve had some personal highs & many recent personal lows, but during these last few emotional months, this virtual forum is where I can not only share what I love about fashion & style, but for the loyal readers that I do have, I’d like to think that I’ve set up a little community here where all styles & walks of life are welcome.

Even though I didn’t expect to have plans tonight, especially by the side of the individual with whom I have said plans, I’m super excited that I was able to find such a great deal on a cute dress to share with everyone.  Which brings me to think about some of my favorite icons of style… I wanted to share this video I found on YouTube of what’s probably one of the best New Year’s Eve movie moments, of course from the Sex & the City movie, starting with Miranda’s late-night phone call to Carrie.

Ladies, we’ve all been there, feeling lonely & down, especially when there may not be a romantic partner in the picture to share the special event of the changing of the year, but I’ve learned that in spending so much time all year building friendships, laughing, & experiencing life, no one is ever alone.  If you have a close group of friends, let them be your soulmates & every other guy (or whoever it is that you prefer) just enters & leaves your life if / when it’s supposed to happen. Love yourself.  Love style.  Love life. Happy New Year! Auguri! Be safe & responsible! Happy Styling!

Runway Rundown / Watch This Style: Rachel Zoe’s 60s-Inspired Pre-Fall Collection + A Video Interview by Neiman Marcus Fashion Director, Ken Downing!

It’s not a secret by now that one of my favorite style icons is the one & only Rachel Zoe!  I’ve posted so much about her collections (here & here), as well as honoring her as Style Darling’s very first (& so far only) .com Darling! Also, for my column “A Dash of Fashion” on Culture Mob, I recently wrote about Rachel’s fabulous jewelry collection on sale @QVC!

However, courtesy of In Style, we have some amazing images of Rachel’s latest pre-Fall collection, which includes a lot of 60s-inspiration with her signature 70s / boho chic elegance.  Rachel told the magazine, “I am so madly in love with this Pre-Fall collection! I really wanted to add a lot of mod elements to this season, the 60s is truly one of my favorite eras… We also expanded a ton on suiting, which will always be my signature, but we added an amazing new pencil skirt which should be a staple in everyone’s closet. There are definitely still some elements of the ‘70s too and the leathers and faux fur are to die for.”

There’s definitely evidence of inspiration here from icons like Coco Chanel, with the glamorous & tailored suits.  Not to mention that the more delicate pieces like mini dresses in soft fabrics & glittery cocktail dresses show off a youthful flair that Rachel is famous for bringing out in clients like Eva Mendes, Anne Hathaway, & Molly Sims.

Take a look at some of the best images from the multifaceted collection that will be available at upscale stores like Nordstrom & Neiman Marcus. Also, check out the exclusive interview with Rachel, courtesy of Neiman Marcus where she talks about her vision for her collection, as well as her style dos!  Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Project Runway: All Stars Promo, Starring Mondo Guerra!

For those of you who don’t watch Project Runway– first of all, shame on you & secondly, I am super psyched about the latest installment of the show, featuring an all-star competition.  I was very disappointed when Mondo Guerra, Season 8 finalist, didn’t win, but at least we can seem him design again on the new Project Runway: All Stars, starting on January 5th on Lifetime.

This is a short promo ad that I found on YouTube. Aside from winner Leanne Marshall from Season 5 & of course the hilarious combination of Christian Siriano & Chris March from Season 4, Mondo is one of my favorite designers.  Also, I included the runway show from Mondo’s final collection during Season 8, full of bold prints, playful color, & sassy style! Happy Holidays & Happy Styling!

Watch This Style / Silver Screen Style: The Top Picks from ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ Collaboration with H&M!

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is in theaters now & you can even get Lisbeth Salander’s edgy, sporty style at your local H&M store.  A while ago, I posted (here) about the stylish, tattered collection, designed by the film’s costume designer, Trish Summerville.  Courtesy of FabSugarTV, here’s a video I found on YouTube, talking about the details behind the collection! Also, check out my more in-depth article from my column ‘A Dash of Fashion’ on Culture Mob! Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Behind-The-Scenes with Keira Knightley For Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle Commercial!

It wasn’t too long ago that I posted one of my first videos, Dior’s J’adore commercial, starring Charlize Theron as she gets ready for the catwalk at Dior’s show & shows a little love to icons like Grace Kelly, Marlene Dietrich, & my favorite, Marliyn Monroe.  Ever since then, I’ve been seeing Keira Knightley starring in commercials for Chanel & her most recent shoot for Coco Mademoiselle is extra elegant!  I found a behind-the-scenes video on YouTube, which is posted below, as well as the extended-cut of the commercial, which serves like a mini-movie / music video, featuring music by Joss Stone. Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Long Live Lipstick Jungle, Featuring Victory Ford, Nico Reilly, & Wendy Healy!

Unfortunately, one of my favorite short-lived shows, Lipstick Jungle, was canceled a few years back, but I found myself searching away on YouTube for a darling clip of the show that I still love sooo much! Even though the show, created by Sex & the City author Candace Bushnell, lasted a whole 20 episodes, I wanted to share this clip.

The show starred Brooke Shields as movie exec Wendy Healy, Kim Raver as media mogul Nico Reilly, & Lindsay Price as fashion designer Victory Ford.  I have to say that Nico & Victory were my favorites, but fashion played such a big role in the show, as though it was a whole other character, defining each of the powerful women.

Take a look & enjoy! Express your love for the show, just as I have.  Obviously, it’s not coming back, but it’s worth the almost 7-minutes here! I’ll be sure to post more video clips of the show that continues to inspire my style & wardrobe, as well as strengthen my relationships with my closest female friends. If you like this post, then check out more from Watch This Style, featuring Sex & the City 2 clips,  looks from the stars of Pan Am, & Gwen Stefani’s Top 5 Most Stylish Music Videos! Happy Styling!

Watch This Style / Silver Screen Style: The Very Best of Samantha Jones (a la Sex & the City 2)!

My last post was about a quartet of stylish women, but when you’re talking about that, you have to mention Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, & Miranda!

Even though Sex & the City 2 wasn’t as huge of a success as the first film, all the elements of friendship, romance, comedy, & style are still there.  If you didn’t know this already, I’m definitely a Charlotte with a plash of Carrie.  However, during my latest venture around YouTube, I came across this nearly 12 1/2 minute video montage of Samantha’s best moments from the sequel film.  I have to say that I haven’t watched this movie as much as I have the first once, but it’s always fun to see what the girls are up to, even if their time in New York is limited.  Have fun watching Samantha’s highlights, as well as the unforgettable banter between the ladies!  Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: The Stars of Pan Am & Their Stylish Small Screen Looks!

If there’s one show to watch this season, it’s Pan Am, which stars Christina Ricci, Margot Robbie, Karine Vanasse, & Kelli Garner as a quartet of Pan Am stewardesses.  Unfortunately, it’s close to being cancelled, but with the help of Style Darlings everywhere, we can lend our support & watch the show as it continues on with the season starting January 8th of next year.  In the meantime, the ABC series is making fashion headlines, in the same way that Mad Men did, celebrating the cinched-in waistlines, pops of color, playful prints, & demure elegance of traveling in style.  Take a look at the images below & share which ones are your favorite! Happy Styling!
