Budget shoppers recognize the importance of getting a great deal & making the most of an occasion. When it comes to Mother’s Day, a hefty price tag isn’t necessarily the way to a mother’s heart. However, some sparkle does get there—to some degree. Whether you’re a mother, have one, or not, let’s just talk about a pretty bracelet!
I can’t decide which one to get, especially at such a major discount from its original $29.50 price. I’m a sucker for rose gold, but both are classic & dazzle for a variety of occasions. Which metal tone do you like best? How would you style this bracelet? What kind of jewelry is your favorite? Recently, I’ve discovered some fashion flashback photos of my outfits, including a blazer over a dress or blouse with jeans—all decked out in heels, living my most affordable Devil Wears Prada life. However, I invested in blazers simply for the photo & hardly ever wear these days. Although, a denim blazer is a whole other topper than can be worn for a day in the office with trousers & a blouse or to dress up a t-shirt & midi skirt combination even more!
Any celebratory gathering to ring in the new year, whether at a fancy restaurant or staying home, deserves some sparkle. There’s no better way to honor the occasion than by adding a statement necklace to your look. Here are 5 selections on sale now that would add the right amount of sparkle & style:
Details matter, especially on footwear. I love to contrast my flowery, feminine outfit with some metallic flare on my heels or play with a dark dramatic look against an unexpected pattern on my flats. However, for summer, when the toes are out & I’m all about sandals, I love the studded look for any casual outfit or maxi dress. A metallic stud in silver or gold instantly makes a jelly or PVC material sandals more elegant & definitely on-trend. Check out the below options from Macy’s, currently on sale for under $30!
A classic look never goes out of style & is always a go-to for nearly any occasion, which was the case for Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron who celebrated her Africa Outreach Project 2022 Summer Block Party in head-to-toe Dior, which took place at the Universal Studios Backlot this past weekend. While Dior isn’t a brand that all of us budget-friendly Style Darlings can depend on on the regular, we can take inspiration from Charlize’s stylish white button-down shirt (shop here), flared jeans (shop similar here), black pointy toe pumps (shop here), black quilted clutch (shop similar here), & Tiffany & Co. jewelry.
Button shirts are a staple for any wardrobe, especially if you work in an environment that requires professional attire, but these tops vary in style & can be worn with a number of different options, including a pencil skirt, linen shorts, or a velvet pants in the cooler months. The below suggested options vary in availability for sizes XS-XXL and range in price from $14.99 – $44.63.
Next, a flared jean is a playful & throwback way of mixing up your look, especially when contrasting a more demure button-down shirt. The below options range in price $40.00-$52.46 and are vary in availability for sizes 0-30.
Next, a black pointy toe pump is definitely a classic to incorporate into one’s weekly routine; however, aside from a breezy, cool denim look, like Charlize’s, check out these affordable options ranging in price from $37.99 – $59.99 for special occasions & other professional functions:
Lastly, you can’t go wrong with a quilted bag bag or clutch, especially one with an option to use the chain or tuck it in for Instagram posing, including the following picks that range in price from $24.97-$39.99:
I started off 2013 on the hunt for a moto jacket, something that I wouldn’t normally be attracted to for my wardrobe, but I like the idea of adding an edgy piece to my usually ladylike outfits. However, I’ve yet to find the perfect jacket for me, but the hunt is on. In the mean time, I’m inspired by the latest trend in blue leather moto jackets which I’ve been seeing at every price point, perfect for a new Splurge or Save? post! I would recommend adding a moto jacket over a sheath dress with peep toe pumps, to dress up a maxi dress & gladiator flats, or for a graphic tee & skinny jeans with knee boots.
I’m starting this post off with the Jil Sander leather jacket ($3,050.00) from Nordstrom, which is of course made from the highest quality craftsmanship. Its sleek minimalist design calls on a mix of menswear-inspiration & utilitarianism chic. Next, the moto leather jacket ($450.00) from True Religion is a 100% lamb leather design with cool zipper details & a contemproary cut.
I think it’s really important to mention that I don’t like to bring up the whole animal-free clothing issue, but I do always believe in trying to find clothing that doesn’t hurt the environment or its living creatures. There are so many earth-friendly varieties out there in fashion these days, like Stella McCartney, & I’m always excited to learn more about them. How do you feel about the leather vs. faux leather? Would you wear a cobalt moto jacket?
