Fabulous In 4 Ways: Pretty Pastel Looks For Your Winter Wardrobe!

Pastels don’t only belong to spring time. They’re the perfect color palette for winter, paired with metallics when you’re looking to avoid an uber-holiday-inspired outfit. Also, pastels this time of year isn’t such a crazy fashion risk when you think about cuddly sweaters against the outdoor snowy landscape.

Some of our favorite celebrities have turned to pastels when hitting the red carpet or making a street style splash. Fashion it-girl Olivia Palermo mixed a white Dior jacket with a ruffled pastel skirt & blinged out belt. Young actress Elle Fanning played with pastel hues with a houndstooth dress, blue jacket, & floral heels by Miu Miu. Scandal actress Kerry Washington was a knockout in a lace & brocade Oscar de le Renta gown & matching pink minaudiere.

Camilla Belle, Lupita Nyong'o, & Victoria Beckham.

Camilla Belle stole the spotlight in a pale green Gucci crop top & matching skirt with gold metallic sandals. Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o made a splash at Fashion Week in a pale purple Calvin Klein sweater dress with a gray clutch & matching strappy sandals. The always glamorous Victoria Beckham showed off a relaxed separates look in a white t-shirt & blue wide leg trousers by Malene Birger.

If that isn’t proof enough that pastels belong to the colder months, plenty of designers displayed Fall Collections featuring pale pink, periwinkle, lilac, mint, winter white, & yellow. This includes pastels featured on the runway by Reed Krakoff, Rebecca Taylor, Ralph Lauren, Chanel, Ermanno Scervino, & Gucci.

Chanel Fall 2014 Haute Couture, Ermanno Scervino & Gucci Fall 2014 Ready-To-Wear Collections.

I put together some outfits, inspired by some of the prettiest pastel colors in stores this season. Of course, there are other hues to make any Style Darling swoon, but the working pale blue, winter white, blush pink, & mint green into your winter wardrobe will make everyday staples like rhinestones & sparkles, as well as cold weather accessories really pop.

Lastly, to break up the monotony of this chillier season, add a splash of pastel to your wardrobe with a winter coat. While black & grays have their place in a classic must-have closet, mix it up with the paler shades in rich textures like wool & leather.

2013 Black Friday Style: Watch Out For Cold Weather Accessories!

‘Tis the season for cold weather accessories, & they always make for a great gift for the holidays. However, if you’re looking to mix up your outerwear look, but love your classic coat, changing up your hat, scarf, & gloves will do the trick! I’m a big fan of scarves, wearing them with my coats & coordinating them with my tunic sweaters & other essentials.

Avenue - Metallic Headband $12.00, Zara - Short Faux Leather Gloves $25.90, Charlotte Russe - Ruffled Open Knit Scarf $12.99, LOFT - Pearlized Gem Embellished Hat $34.50, & Kohl's - Croft & Barrow Ombre Animal Fringed Scarf $9.99.

Some suggestions that break that break the conventions of neutral cold weather accessories include the following: metallic headband ($12.00) in camel @Avenue, short faux leather gloves ($25.90) in navy @Zara, ruffled open knit scarf ($12.99) in rust @Charlotte Russe, pearlized gem embellished hat ($34.50– use code ENJOY for 40% off) in pale berry pink @LOFT, & Croft & Barrow’s ombre animal fringed scarf ($9.99) @Kohl’s.

I’m such a big fan of patterns when it comes to scarves, especially polka dots or houndstooth, which is why I also wanted to feature these other accessories for more shopping fun: Aeropostale, Wet Seal, Ann Taylor, QVC, Joe Fresh, & Urban Outfitters. Happy Styling!

The Stylish Five: Bundle Up With A Stylish Scarf From Forever 21 (Under $10)!

As soon as the first brisk breeze of fall appears, you can guarantee that I’ll be wearing a scarf until the first sunny spring day… however I do wear scarves when its cooler at night too. I’m a big fan of adding layers of interest to your look & there are plenty of ways to do so while keeping your ensemble stylish & fresh.  It took me a while to get into scarves, but over the last 2 or 3 years, I’ve turned into the crazy scarf lady & was even the happy recipient of a luxe cream & black houndstooth scarf for Christmas that matches perfectly with my new cream wool coat.

Anyway, when it comes to accessories like scarves, you can have a lot of fun with colors, fabrics, & prints, which is why I always look @Forever 21 to get some scarf inspiration. I was happy to find a selection of five very fashionable scarves for under $10, so I knew it was time to post in The Stylish Five!

My selections include the geometric tassle scarf ($5.00) in black/fuchsia, but you can also find this four addition color combinations.  Next, to stay warm, I recommend the soft chunky loose knit scarf ($9.50) in olive.  If this hue isn’t your style, then be sure to check out the hot pink, rust, & teal options to create a cute, layered look.  As a proponent of pattern, a feminine floral can be found in the ditsy flower scarf ($8.80) in peach/cream.  This is also a sweet-looking accessory to wear over a button-down shirt & denim skirt.  Also, the frayed spotted scarf ($8.80) adds a hint of animal-print in a subtle blue, sure to bring out your eyes.  Lastly, for the Style Darling with a classic aesthetic, I recommend the frayed woven scarf ($5.80) in green, but it is also sold in cream, black, pink, yellow, & purple.

What’s your scarf style? Do you like to match your outerwear accessories? Do you prefer solid colors over printed textures? Happy Styling!

Black Friday Sale Update: Banana Republic’s Sitewide 40% Off Your Total Purchase Sale Ends Today!

So I’m swicthing gears a little here to share some fun gift ideas if you’re a Style Darling on a budget & you’re out shopping among the madness that is known as Black Friday.  @Banana Republic you can score some chic gifts for your famile friends while enjoying their 40% off your total purchase sale, which ends today, using code BRFRIDAY.  When I think about gifts, I always try to consider accessories, just to be on the safe side if I’m not sure about size.

I know I try & update my fall / winter accessories with fun pieces that help express my personality, but can also transcend multiple outfits.  This include the very necessary convertible knit glove ($29.50) in grey, which is also available in black, white, red, & tan to match with any other outerwear favorites.  Also, the heritage gathered stripe cap ($29.50) in tan, but also comes in navy & grey, adding a little sparkle to your cold weather accessories.

The sheer diamond tight ($22.50) in burgundy is both on-trend & perfect for wearing from now until the spring. This gift is perfect for a gal pal who takes pride in her work wardrobe, but loves to play with unexpected colors & make a style statement.  When it comes to stylish gifts, there’s nothing like a little splash of animal print, which is why I added the animal print hairfalf skinny belt ($39.50) to be worn over a cardigan, contrast with a plaid button-down & pencil skirt, or to wrap across a sheath dress for a cocktail party.  Lastly, it wouldn’t be the holiday season without a scarf & love the flowy nature of the Bobbi striped scarf ($39.50) in light grey. If you wanna bring a nautical chic feel to your fall / winter look, then I would recommend this in navy for you!

Don’t forget while you’re shopping to always hit up the sale items, b/c Banana Republic has 300+ just waiting to join your currently wardrobe staples! Happy Styling!

The Stylish Five: Cute Cold Weather Accessories ($25 & Under)!

Even though this weekend’s weather had me fooled into thinking that it was August, I’m loving all of the new cold weather accessories in stores.  Of course you have your choice of scarves, hats, gloves, & earmuffs, but these are some of my favorites to kick off the season! For $25 & under, take a look at some of the staple pieces that you can enjoy all season long!

For anyone looking to protect your hair from the upcoming harsh weather, take a cue from Parisian chic style with this beret ($5.95) from H&M.  It’s available in gray, camel, & black, which means that it’s the perfect neutral to any peacoat or trench.  Also at the Swedish retailer, you can have 100% leather gloves ($24.95) in rich golden brown or black.  They’re lined & available in sizes small to large.

However, if you’re a knit-lover, take a look at the playful, taupe cable knit pom pom scarf ($16.94) from Old Navy.  In case you want to show off a pop of color in your cold weather accessories, this heavy, snow-bunny-inspired scarf is also sold in red.  You can protect your arms with fingerless gloves ($7.80) in gray, oatmeal, or fuchsia, sold @Forever 21.  Your fingers will be available to text your friends or play your favorite tunes on your iPod!

Lastly, my favorite of all of these pieces is the knit flower headwrap ($7.99) in berry from Payless.  They’re currently marked down from $9.99 & also sold in black & white.  And now why I love this… in January, I spent some time in Florence, Italy.  Of course most people don’t vacation in the winter to winter locations, but I had the amazing opportunity to discover some incredible style, including a knit headwrap.  It always takes a year for the European trends to make their way stateside, so I’m ahead of the game! Now, headwraps are all the rage & this adorable one is a perfect example of that! In addition to taking place of a cute headband, I love that this causes a lot less static in my hair as opposed to a knit hat!

What cold weather accessories are you looking for this season?  What’s your staple piece that you can’t live without when the temperature drops?  Where do you shop for hats, scarves, & gloves?  Happy Styling?
