Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: Take A Look @This T-Strap!

Obviously, I’m wild about shoes & am starting to look over my budget for this holiday season.  Some of that includes a few extras for myself b/c I know how hard I’ve been working to keep up with work, school, writing, blogging, & trying not to let the crumbling personal life get the best of me.  If even for a moment, there’s a pair of shoes that brings joy to my life, I raise a glass to it & walk on with a little more pep in my step!

I’m not a huge lover of t-strap heels for myself, but when I see other Style Darlings wear them, I always want to give them another try.  However, then I came across these super adorable t-strap Jadenna heels ($19.95) @G by Guess!  While they’re dressy enough for a cocktail look with a patent lunch, I do love the delicate bow & rhinestone detail.  It’s a very Charlotte York kind of shoe & it’s a must-have at such a reasonable price, marked down from $59.50.

The extra feminine details would also look stunning with black opaque tights & a dark denim skirt.  This would help dress the shoes down & you’d get more wear out of them! Or for fancier occasions, if you’re wearing something with a killer slit, this would make for a polished & elegant surprise on your feet.

What do you think of these shoes?  How would you wear them?  Do you gravitate to t-straps or prefer more open pumps?  Check out my previous Quickie Darling Deal & Steal posts, featuring suede heels & H by Halston shoes @Bakers.  Happy Styling!

Watch This Style: Let’s Talk About Bravo’s Mad Fashion With Project Runway Finalist Chris March!

I started this category to feature some of my favorite inspirations of style on the tele.  There’s plenty more to come from Gossip Girl, The Rachel Zoe Project, & E!’s Fashion Police, but first I have to talk about one of my new favorite shows, Bravo’s Mad Fashion, which follows Season 4 Project Runway finalist Chris March (that year Christian Siriano won)!  I couldn’t find any clips of the show online, but if you haven’t watched the series which started last month, here’s something to help catch you up with Chris’ extraordinary vision for his designs.  Check back with Watch This Style for more on your favorite TV Style Darlings!  Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review: The Versace for H&M Debut featuring Jessica Alba, Jennifer Hudson, Blake Lively, & More!

I recently wrote for my Culture Mob column, A Dash of Fashion, about The Details Behind Versace’s Collection for H&M.  Last night in New York, throngs of celebrities & fashionistas gathered to celebrate the line by designer Donatella Versace, which she recently told In Style: I want to give young people my own history, the Versace brand history, and the most iconic fashion moments of Versace.”

Although the line isn’t available in H&M stores until November 17th, some of the major players in fashion like Jessica Alba, Blake Lively, & Selma Blair showed their support for bringing the Versace name to mainstream shoppers. Emma Roberts, Abbie Cornish, & Nicki Minaj played with separates, while Jennifer Hudson, Chloe Moretz, & Kaylee DeFer showed off their elegant & edgy frocks.  Also, Uma Thurman sports an age-appropriate gown from the line with a contemporary touch in the blazer & strappy sandals.

Which of these looks would you wear?  I’m loving Jessica Alba’s demure approach with the black opague tights & tied back bun.  Also, I do love Chloe Moretz’s unexpected shoe choice with the yellow sheath dress.  Check out more images & prices from the line here! Happy Styling!

The Stylish Five: LBDs from Forever 21 ($30 & Under)!

Get ready for the holiday season with some super sexy LBDs, especially ones that are under $30.00!  Check out the latest collection @Forever 21, featuring a range of different cuts, flattering for sizes XS – 3X.  Now, where there are LBDs, there will be colorful, metallic, or patent pumps & sandals to wear as well!  Are we excited yet?

The shimmer tulle dress ($27.80) is just one of a number of plus-size little black numbers to flatter a curvy figure.  The sweetheart lace pointe dress ($19.80) is the perfect way to cover up a little, but still showing off your elegant & flirty side.

To give your face the focus it deserves, try out the silky origami dress ($19.80), which leaves plenty of opportunity to play with accessories like chandelier earrings, an embellished choker, or a bold cuff.  If you’re a more daring Style Darling, the fitted leatherette dress ($24.80) is just the right pick. It’s edgy enough to pull of a rocker look with stacked bangles & hoop earrings while out with the girls.  Or to bring out the sparkle in your personality, the matelasse shimmer dress ($22.80) is stylish with a two-tone boyfriend blazer & some ankle booties.

Where do you shop when looking for an LBD?  What’s your favorite Forever 21 purchase? What’s your bargain dress story?  Happy Styling!

Runway Rundown: Kate Winslet for St. John’s Spring 2012 Campaign!

Oscar winner Kate Winslet is putting her best face forward, returning as a spokesmodel for St. John‘s spring 2012 campaign.  Thanks for an article I discovered on In Style, I’m able to share a sneak peek of the ads, which can be found in upcoming magazine spreads for spring fashion in February.

Also, in a related article that I came across on Fashion Etc., Kate’s quoted as saying “It has been a great experience working with St. John… I am very excited for this upcoming season. George [Sharp, the brand’s creative director] and St. John have created wonderfully chic and effortless styles for the modern woman.

What do you think of Kate in these ads? Are you a fan of St. John’s?  For more on celebrity fashion endorsements, check out Demi Moore for Ann Taylor & Hailee Steinfeld for Miu Miu.  Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review: Selena Gomez’s 9 Outfit Changes Hosting The MTV Europe Music Awards!

Last night, Selena Gomez hosted MTV’s Europe Music Awards in Belfast.  She out-wore this year’s Oscar co-host, Anne Hathaway, who donned a mere eight looks during the ceremony.  The big difference is that Selena sports short shorts, rompers, metallic pants, & bubble dresses for the international celebration of popular music.

Selena is making her way up the style ladder with these very different, but youthful looks.  My favorite is the multicolored sequin shorts with the yellow cowl neck blouse with purple ankle booties.  Picking up on the 70s trend, Selena wore a red sparkly jumpsuit by The Blonds.  Then she turns it up with some serious gam exposure in the purple sequin romper with knee-high boots.  For a playful twist during her hosting duties, Selena stepped out in a golf-inspired look with argyle knee socks & high heel loafers.  For a sexy, more grown up look, Selena also jumped on board the sheer trend with a leopard & leather dress.  While on the red carpet, Selena wore a tutu-inspired lace Marchesa dress with Swarovski earrings & peep toe pumps.

The Disney darling channeled the 80s with gold leggings & a silver-sleeved jacket.  Then she played with pattern & shape in this bubble dress with Swarovski bangles. I think the chartreuse mini was adorable, making her look like a prom princess!

Which is your favorite look of Selena’s?  Would you wear a bubble mini or gold leggings?  Check out previous Red Carpet Review posts, featuring the looks of the Emmy’s, the 2011 Toronto Film Festival, & the 2011 Venice Film Festival.  Happy Styling!

Runway Rundown: Project Runway: Season 9 Winner, Anya Ayoung Chee’s Collection!

I love that I can post videos on here, so if you missed the finale of Project Runway’s ninth season, here’s a little clip of winner Anya Ayoung Chee‘s runway colletion via a slideshow on YouTube!  Do you think Anya should’ve won?  Who was your fan favorite throughout the season? Who’s your favorite designer from all nine seasons?  Happy Styling!

Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: Strike A Fierce Pose With These 5″ Heels!

Every now & again, I come across a pair of shoes that are easily a must-have… maybe that’s not entirely true b/c it happens more often than not!  During my search for ruby red shoes for last night’s blog, I stumbled on these five-inch stunners from PaylessBrash has designed these ‘Konstant’ block heel pumps ($36.99) in gray & black.  Once I get my feet on them in stores, one of them will be mine.  It’s just tough deciding which color!  However, Payless is currently offering their BOGO 50% off sale- so many buying both won’t be such a debate, although I’m more likely to go gray!

These are perfect for a work look of a pencil skirt, cardigan, & textured tights.  Or take the gray shoes for next spring with some lighter fabrics like a chiffon pleated tea length skirt & a tucked in t-shirt under a blazer.  In situations like this… I think, What would Pippa do?

What do you think of these shoes?  Would you buy / wear them?  Are you interested in more deals from Payless?  If so, check out some previous Payless-oriented posts, featuring Kristen Stewart’s Glamour cover look, stylish flat boots, & cute cold weather accessories! Happy Styling!

Darling of the Day: The Ultimate Pippa Middleton Style Gallery!

Thanks to a collection of online photos, courtesy of In Style, I’ve been able to put together 88 looks worn by the very stylish Pippa Middleton, younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine Middleton.  I’ve had my eye on Pippa for a long time now & am happy to post this gallery so that we can all be inspired by her French Connection, Modalu, Whistles, H&M, Prada, Maje, & Zara pieces.  Not to mention, the party planner mixes & matches pieces all season long, especially pairing her signature black blazers over ruffled dress, printed sheath numbers, & basic tees with jeans. She’s not afraid to repeat her favorite items & makes them look fresh & new every time!  Take a look around & rate which ones are your favorites!

Silver Screen Style: Get Your Own Ruby Slippers!

On one unsuspecting Saturday night, I found myself planted in front of the tube watching Wizard of Oz with my best friend, Rosie.  Of course, I can’t get over Dorothy’s signature ruby slippers.  I have plenty of red high heels, but none are quite as classic & adorable as the original Salvatore Ferragamo designed shoes for the movie.

I’ve recently posted a lot about shoes & even dedicated a whole Color Me Style post to Rosie (clicky here), but there’s really no such thing as too many red shoes!

Take a look at these shoes which range in price from $24.50 – $99.00, but are totally worth the investment if you’re looking to add some glimmering polish to the upcoming holiday season & for any smashing LBD ensemble.  My favorites by far are the glittery mary jane platform pumps ($30.00) from Charlotte Russe.  The store is currently having a sale where you can buy shoes BOGO $15.00.  That’s a good deal! You can find the sparkle toe pumps ($99.00) @Victoria’s Secret, or go for some all-over twinkle with the Promiscuous ‘Ryan’ pumps ($24.50) from 6PM.

While Dorothy’s shoes weren’t peep toes, I’ve also selected the ‘Jeana’ knot slingbacks ($27.99) in red satin, which add an old Hollywood glamour to any look, from Payless.  They’re also available in black & wide width, just in case the red isn’t for you.  I’m also a big fan of patent leather, so these Romantic Soles ‘Peony’ pumps ($44.50) sold @Zappos are the perfect fit for a polka-dotted dress in the summer, or with heavier textures this season like tweed or a chunky knit dress.  Speaking of texture, @Nine West, the ‘Galactica’ suede pumps ($69.30) have a little bit more edge with gold embellishments around the platform.

Have a red shoe story? Love Wizard of Oz? Share your story with us Style Darlings!  Happy Styling!

Luxury Look-ALikes for Less: Chandelier Earrings from Nordstrom Vs. Forever 21!

Every Style Darling has an opinion about jewelry, if it should be genuine, or that fashion jewelry makes a statement about their personality & getting something cute for a bargain is essential.  I, of course, go with the latter mantra.  When it comes to earrings, I’m very much a novice, sticking to studs myself.  However, after seeing Sofia Vergara’s staggering emerald chandelier earrings at this year’s Emmy awards, I’m loving this decadent style, although I’m not wearing it.

When researching to find some luxury look-alikes for less, these chandelier earrings came up, although they are different in tone, but the luxe appearance of stones makes for a stylish neutral to any LBD or blouse & jeans outfit.  They’re an instant go-to for putting together a look for a wedding, or transforming your work outfit into something cocktail-ready for an evening event.  Not to mention, there’s a big price difference between the earrings as well.

@Nordstrom, you can find Kendra Scott’s ‘Trista’ stone chandelier earrings ($51.90), which are reduced from $78.00.  If you’re a Nordstrom shopper, you should know then that there are 2 days left to earn double rewards points through your membership! The beaded chandelier earrings ($4.06) from Forever 21 are marked down 30%.  If you shop around for jewelry on the site regularly, start clicking since the 30% off sale is for THREE DAYS ONLY!

Do these danglers do it for you?  How would you wear them?  How much are you willing to spend on such a timeless & elegant pair of earrings? Happy Styling!

Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: Eloquii’s New Plus Size Line @The Limited!

This blog is dedicated to any nay-saying Style Darlings who think I only create posts for the stick figured ladies out there.  I am not one of those, wearing a size 14-short jeans & most of my tops are medium-large, although I have lost a full 12lbs for the 2011 calendar year, hoping to drop at least one size by the end of the year.

Anyway, since I do love The Limited, I was especially excited to share the news that the Eloquii label has created an online only line in sizes 14W-24W. The prices for items range between $30 – $148, including jackets, pants, intimate apparel, & lots more! The stylish collection is fall-friendly, holiday-ready, & work appropriate for Darlings of any style!

Check out the website for more stylish ways to shop the collection, as well as how you can use a special 20% of coupon code (BUYME20) to use until Sunday! Where’s your favorite place to shop for plus size designs?  What are your staple pieces to build a wardrobe?  Happy Styling!

The Stylish Five: Clearance Jewelry Picks from JC Penney ($10 & Under)!

I’m loving the new Bravo show, Project Accessory, & I’ve got jewelry on the brain! With the combination of the show & my latest JC Penney coupons b/c I’m a card holder, I went in search of some fun jewelry finds!

Special pieces of jewelry really make an outfit pop, even if you’re just wearing something as basic as a white tee & jeans.  I’m a big bracelet gal, & I love the metallic accented leather bracelet ($5.40).  It’s part Cleopatra / part diva & makes for a glamorous finishing touch to any work outfit transformed for night.  Bring out your personality with a statement piece like the brown large feather necklace ($6.00) for a blazer & jeans, or an LBD.  For the playful Style Darling, the owl ring ($4.50) would stand out against a paisley peasant blouse & a dark denim pencil skirt with camel knee boots.  If you’re looking for some color in a ring, try out the turquoise tone stone ring ($7.20) which will make quite the style statement.  Take a look at the black multi bib necklace ($7.20) which will frame your face & sparkle over a mock turtleneck.

Are you a bargain shopper looking for the best buys? Check out more posts from The Stylish Five, as well as Basics for a Bargain.  Check out all the accessories on clearance @JCP here & start your holiday shopping! Happy Styling!

Silver Screen Style: Johnny Depp & Amber Heard Light Up The Screen in ‘Rum Diary’

I don’t normally focus on men’s style, but when we’re talking about Johnny Depp, jaws must drop.  With his recent role in The Rum Diary, based on the novel by the late Hunter S. Thompson, I’m loving the styling of costumes & just how gorgeous everyone looks, including the film’s leading lady, Amber Heard.  Take a look at the images below, along with the film’s trailer to get a glimpse at live action gonzo journalism. Set against the backdrop of late 1950s Puerto Rico, Johnny & Amber are joined by Aaron Eckhart & Giovanni Ribisi in the autobiographical look at Thompson’s journey finding his voice as a writer.

Also, I included a very entertaining video clip of Johnny Depp on Late Show with David Letterman, where the three-time Academy Award nominee very affectionately talks about his personal relationship with Thompson & their musings over the unpublished version of The Rum Diary, which is in theaters now.  Of course, this isn’t an entirely style-related post, but I was excited about it, so it was worth sharing.  Happy Styling!

11/1/11 Darling of the Day: America Ferrera is Red Hot in Nicole Miller!

As soon as I saw the former Ugly Betty star, America Ferrera, in this red hot Nicole Miller dress, I knew I just had to post it.  I don’t think she’s ever looked better & she’s miles away from where she was when she first made her red carpet debut during press tours for Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Here, America is definitely stealing the show, attending a West End production of Chicago in London.

While I couldn’t find a red dress with the same neckline, anything figure flattering & curve hugging that helps frame the face will do to recreate the smouldering look.  This Ellen Tracy dress ($83.53) from 6PM is also available in black & turquoise, in sizes 2-16. The textured surplus dress ($22.80) from Forever 21 is super hot for my fuller-figured Style Darlings, available in XL – 3X.

As for the shoes, America’s wearing red velvet peep toes that make her look all the more luxurious.  I found velvet lace-up ballerina pumps ($38.00) from Charlotte Russe, which are both youthful & flirty for any night out.

Even though the glowing actress doesn’t seem to be wearing much jewelry, since her figure is her best asset, I added these delicate glittered bead earrings ($6.80) just for a polished touch of class & contrast.

For more on Nicole Miller dress designs, check out the official website here, along with America’s actual long sleeve matte jersey sheath dress ($275.00) from Nordstrom.

Also, to read more about Darling of the Day posts, check out Miranda Kerr, Gwen Stefani, & Lea Michele! Do you think this dress looks good on the Emmy winner?  Who are the other curvy stars that inspire your style?  Happy Styling!

Inside A Style Blogger’s Closet: Most Mod, Darling Halloween Costume / Retro-Inspired Outfit!

Even though my Halloween party plans did not come to fruition this weekend (stupid weather!), I put together my look since I was so looking forward to wearing it!

Typically, I dress up in my favorite party dress with some birthday-themed adornments from the local party store & attend festivities as a birthday girl. To me, Halloween is just another reason to show off the stylish part of my personality & this year, I went with being a mod 60s gal! Having scored this darling houndstooth mod dress ($17.95) @H&M just recently, I knew that it had to make its long-awaited debut for Halloween.  I’m not the blood & guts kind of trick-or-treater anyway.

The dress is the only new purchase to my wardrobe, which I plan on wearing to work on Monday, however minus the bright turquoise tights.  Since my job isn’t quite one where Halloween costumes are permitted, I’m substituting the turquoise with a deep plum opague tight, hoping to look more professional, but still polished with a fashionable belt to cinch me in.  The pictured tights come from Target from a few years ago & rarely make an appearance, but the color is just so playful & fun, I like to pair it with a plain work-appropriate LBD & some textured ballet flats.  My high heel maryjanes represent an old Payless purchase & my sweater jacket is a favorite from Old Navy.

I’m a big lover of black & white patterns, so it goes without saying that the houndstooth headband thrived in my arsenal of hair accessories for quite some time now- perhaps a purchase from Icing by Claire’s? I’m keeping this post short & sweet, so Happy Halloween!  Happy Styling!

Red Carpet Review: Menswear Inspiration from Jennifer Aniston, Lady Gaga, & Evan Rachel Wood!

Menswear inspiration has made quite a comeback over the last few years & it looks like it’s not going away.  We have some amazing celebrity inspiration on how to recreate these looks, embracing the androgynous trend in the most chic & elegant way.  Evan Rachel Wood made a big splash this year in a Dolce & Gabbana suit with Salvatore Ferragamo heels at the Venice Film Festival & also a white Yves Saint Laurent suit with Neil Lane jewelry at the Ides of March premiere.  Fashionista Alexa Chung showed off some color-blocking & layering with a long-sleeved sweater, a button-down shirt, with gray skinny jeans & a red quilted Chanel crossbody bags.

Supermodel Kate Moss wore all-over gray in a slouchy top & trousers with cap toe heels for a Rimmel London event.  Naomi Watts sported her own interpretation of the vest & pants look in this all-white Stella McCartney design.  Jennifer Aniston shows a sultry black version in Dolce & Gabbana for the New York premiere of Five, with a peek-a-boo bra.  In a surprise turn of fashion, Lady Gaga showed up at New York City’s Beacon Theatre in this mustard Viktor & Rolf suit with a mini tube bra & plastic square sunglasses.

To shop for some menswear pieces like blazers, vests, trousers, & button down shirts, check out New York & Company, Express, Ann Taylor LOFT, & H&M.  For accessories to complete your look like belts, necklaces, bags, & shoes, check out some of my favorite stores like Payless, DSW, ALDO, & Steve Madden.

Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: New Markdowns on H by Halston Shoes @Bakers!

If you didn’t know already, legendary designer Halston has created some super sexy styles of shoes.  The H by Halston brand can be found @Bakers.  Halston has been worn on red carpets by such celebrities as Sarah Jessica Parker, Halle Berry, & Nicole Richie.

When I was looking a the store’s website, I found some really amazing style son sale.  Although some of these prices are not necessarily in my fall budget, but if you’re looking to get your feet on the luxury footwear, take a look at the sale items, which are marked down!

I picked these four, which range in price from $29.99 – $94.99 & are perfect to add some height, thus making you look slimmer.  Check out the Alexa ($29.99, marked down from $90.00), Brodie ($49.99, marked down from $100.00), Ruby ($49.99, marked down from $110.00), & Rosalind ($94.99, marked down from $100.00), as well as other styles on the website.

The Alexa platforms are perfect to wear with a maxi dress while on vacation or even with a pencil skirt & glittery blazer.  The red snake & suede details on the Brodie peep toes would look super fierce with a structural LBD or with a metallic draped number.

The black & silver suede Ruby platforms are a mix of 70s & mod, perfect for a solid sheath dress or with a flowy jumpsuit.  The playful Rosalind maryjanes are a modern way of showing off a 20s flapper look, or even for a work look with wide leg trousers & a pinstripe button down shirt.

Fore more news on the latest shoe sales, check out lace peep toes inspired by Christian Louboutin, killer heels from GOjane, & Pippa Middleton’s ballet flats! Happy Styling!

Basics for a Bargain: Scarves Inspired by Zoe Saldana, Claire Danes, Rihanna, & More (Dedicated to Rosie)!

My bestie, Rosie, was asking me about scarves for the season & I thought what better way to show her & my readers the many different ways  a scarf can be worn, especially this fall!  However, when I looked at some celebrities to get some inspiration, I saw that scarves have a place among everyday pieces like jeans, sunglasses, & boots.

Zoe Saldana dresses up her black top & skinny jeans with platform heels & a leopard scarf.  January Jones covers up a tissue tee with her blue scarf, accented with a cargo jacket & ballet flats.  Nicole Richie adds a pop of color to her gray & black look with a chunky red scarf.  Kate Walsh makes her layered blazer look more chic with a taupe scarf that matches her striped cardigan.  Rihanna makes travelling look luxe with her neutral, streamlined basics but with an animal-inspired scarf.  Claire Danes plays with leather, but keeps it from looking too flashy with black jeans & a gray bundled pashmina.

Claudia Schiffer takes a 70s turn  with a printed scarf over a button down blouse & denim skirt.  If you take away the top & add a chunky knit, & replace the sandals with ankle booties worn with tights & you have a very fall-ready ensemble.  Ashley Olsen takes a walk around New York City, mixing prints with her top & floral scarf.  Model Bar Rafaeli brings an all-American flair to her court side look at the French Open back in June with mixing denim & a gray fringe scarf.

To amp up your looks just a little more, I’ve picked out a variety of scarves.  While I’m a super bargain hunter, I always recommend looking for accessories that are worth the investment b/c they last all season long! From Target, the tropical mix scarf ($16.99) in pink is perfect for an earth-tone look & the pop of pink would look very strong against dark denim.  @Payless, you can find the leopard print scarf ($9.99) to wear with a leather jacket & skinny jeans.  If you’re looking for some color with ladylike touches, check out LOFT‘s beaded dot scarf ($34.99)- especially when the store frequently has 40% off sales!

Mix a tiny floral print top & bootcut jeans with this tribal scarf ($9.50) from Charlotte Russe. Keeping with the prints, the jagged pattern scarf ($10.50) from Forever 21 is fun to wear with a graphic tee, denim jacket, & straight leg black pants for a casual day of errands.  Something a little chunkier, take a look at Bebe for the ivory open weave scarf ($29.00) that would show the luxury in your taste with a peacoat & knee boots.  A must-have scarf is the sheer lurex infinity scarf ($29.90) from Express, which comes in nine different colors.  The store is also currently having a BOGO 50% sale, so you can buy one for yourself and another for a friend without breaking the bank.  You can also take on blacks & whites with the ‘dawn’s early light’ scarf ($19.99) from Mod Cloth, which can be paired with a boyfriend blazer over a t-shirt & liquid leggings.

What are your favorite scarf styles?  Do you prefer fringe & pattern or do you go with a basic pashmina?  For more posts on Basics for a Bargain, check out Miranda Kerr in tees & leather, turtlenecks inspired by Amanda Seyfried & Selena Gomez, & The Stylish Five for more on cute cold weather accessories.  Happy Styling!

Inside A Style Blogger’s Closet: Busy Work Day Look, Mixing Structure, Texture, & Pattern!

Some might say that I get a little overdressed for my office job, that will remain nameless, but I think of it as a chance everyday to explore my professional attire & get multiple uses out of clothing that can be worn on casual days too!

On a not-so-special Tuesday, I put together this outfit b/c I was finally ready to rip off the price tag from the skirt, which I bought back in July (with the purchase of this skirt).  There are a few tiered layers to the skirt by Worthington from JC Penney & it is lined underneath, making it a not-so-summer-ready skirt.  However, as the seasons have been changing, I broke out some of my heavier pieces & saw that my $4.97 (yes, that’s how much I got the skirt for!) was going to waste since I hadn’t worn it yet.  According to the original tag, the skirt was first marked up to $60.00, which seems like much too much. Not to mention when I first bought the skirt, it was nug & now that I’m down a total of 12lbs for the 2011 calendar year, it sits just where its supposed to!

Since the skirt plays with three-dimensional structure, as you can see by the tiers, I broke out my asymmetrical black tee from New York & Company, which I’m pretty sure that I bought for under $10 (with the help of one of my favorite Style Darlings, Laurie).  The belt ($16.99) was a purchase earlier in the summer & polka-dotted tights were from last year, both from Target.  I know there’s a lot going on in the pattern & shape of the skirt, but I think when you have something as bold as this, it’s okay to put another pattern with it.  The skirt has a pointillism-inspired look, so the polka dots aren’t too far off.  Plus, they’re small enough not to take away from the overall look.  And who doesn’t love a good textured tight?

In addition, as a loyal Target shopper, I picked up the flyaway cardigan ($19.99) after urging my bestie Rosie (see the blog I dedicated to her here) to buy one. I don’t know why I didn’t hop on that right away since I’ve been wearing the cotton cardigan several times throughout the season now.

I don’t remember where I got the necklace, but I’d take a guess at somewhere like Mandee, Wet Seal, or Forever 21 since I don’t usually spend a lot on my fashion jewelry.  Of course, I can’t forget the shoes… I have these in a beige / gold also!  I love the four-inch heel & the silver lining around the cut-outs.  They lasted me throughout my eight-hour work day & are just so comfortable, but these are no longer available @Payless, since they were from (about) two seasons ago.  Unless it’s a shoe style emergency, I never buy anything from Payless without a coupon or when they’re having a BOGO 50% off sale & neither should you!

As always, I’m happy to share my style stories, now that I’m finally getting pictures up here on Style Darling.  I even told a customer who came into the office today how much my skirt cost when she remarked on how well-dressed I was & she snickered at me, “You know, you shouldn’t tell people that,” referring to the cheap bargain in which I so proudly announced.  Of course, there’s nothing wrong with a great deal, but it is nice to feel like you look like you’re wearing luxury pieces, especially when I’ve become invested in all the pieces that express my style to a tee!

Check out my previous Inside A Style Blogger’s Closet posts featuring my closet– literally- & a cute summer dress ($8.74) styled for fall! Happy Styling!

Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: Take A Stylish Walk On The Wild Side @Cache!

I’ve never actually shopped @Cache, but when I received an email from the store about their 60% off clearance sale, I just had to check it out.  I got really excited to find animal-inspired pieces like the dress ($159.00) that looks flattering to all shapes.  It’s just the kind of print that I was referring to in my previous post about what to wear with the lace peep toes!

Next, the snake print cami ($39.00) would really wow underneath a boyfriend blazer with skinny jeans & red heels, or wear it with a cardigan & pencil skirt to make it more of a work-appropriate shell under basics.

The silk shorts ($59.00) remind me of something Rachel Bilson’s character would wear on Hart of Dixie, but these are easily fall-ready if paired with black tights, a mock turtleneck & some ankle booties.  My favorite of all is the tiered skirt ($49.00), which is just enough flirty & feminine for my style.  It’s classy enough to wear with your favorite button down blouse or sexy enough to go with the highest platforms in your closet!

When you look at the prices here, you might be thinking that I’ve forgotten my style-on-a-budget rule, but if you check out the website, you can get an addition 60% off, so the dress which was originally marked at $168.00 & is on sale for $159.00, then becomes $63.60 in your shopping cart after the 60% off!  Oh the power of bargains!  I should also mention that this is an end-of-the-season clearance sale so not all sizes are available.  I wanted to share the news on the great sale so that my readers can benefit! Happy Styling!

Luxury Look-Alikes for Less: Lace Peep Toes Inspired by Lea Michele & Zoe Saldana in Christian Louboutin!

In cleaning out my stacks of magazine clippings, I was very inspired by the adorable Christian Louboutin lace & leopard heels, which are no longer available.  I always remembered Zoe Saldana wearing them at last year’s MTV Movie Awards & Lea Michele modeling them with a gorgeous mini Marchesa dress in an issue of 2010’s In Style

I was doing some clicking around Shop Style & nothing makes me happier than looking through the rows of evening shoes.  I came across these 2 Lips Too peep toe heels ($49.95) in black, ivory, & purple @DSW.  I love the details in the lace, feather, & jewel embellishment.  It makes for the perfect finishing touch to any ladylike look. These were unintentional finds that reminded me of the dainty & ladylike Louboutins.  Even though they don’t have that animal-inspired touch, any of these shoes could be paired with a sexy leopard dress.

Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: The Latest Sale Apparel Under $30 @G By Guess!

I recently discovered the online site, G by Guess, a sub-brand of Guess, featuring very stylish apparel & accessories. I clicked through their sale items & found some very fashionable pieces marked down to prices under $30.00!  I always say that the beginning of a season is the best time to shop past-season pieces.  Here’s a perfect example of that!

I love the slinky one-shoulder dress ($22.48) in white, which is reduced in price from $49.50, but it’s only available online in XL. White is a tricky color to pull off if you have curves, but the flattering cut & with some carefully placed accessories like a metallic belt or a leather jacket, this could be a really hot piece to wear for a night out! Or, even a romper for fall can work! The chambray romper ($22.48) is perfect for a look with tights, ankle boots, & an oversized blazer if you want to make a playful daytime outfit.  Replace the built-in belt with something textured in croc or with grommets to create more dimension to this go-to summer piece.

The cargo ruffle jacket ($24.98) is great to complete a look consisting of dark denim jeans, a graphic tee, & pointy toe heels.  It’s a little bit urban, yet still offers a flattering cinch at the waist for feminine dresses.  Most of us can agree that bootcut jeans ($27.48) flatter nearly all shapes.  They’re the best casual & cool way of dressing down a sparkly top, & looking edgy in a masculine vest.

As for tops, I found these two which I thought were so cute & at a great price.  The printed top ($14.98) makes for a colorful pairing against leather leggings & a fitted jacket, or can be worn for day under a chunky knit & denim pencil skirt.  The plaid v-neck top ($14.98) shows a colorful pattern in multi / black, as well as a light purple.  It’s a fun alternative to the traditional plaid button-down for fall & also would pair nicely with something cordouroy… OR perhaps the green cargo pants ($19.98)?  I love that they’re a little bit utilitarian, yet still polished enough to wear with heels. On the website, they’re only available in size 24, but for those of you who are looking for a bottom option other than the easy go-to black trousers, grab them while you can!

Silver Screen Style: Miss Piggy Goes Glam for In Style!

To mark the excitement of Style Darling’s 300th post, I’m recycling some style news, but it’s still important news! Thanks to my editor over @Movie Buzzers, I got an exclusive heads up about a very special fashion spread that I’m so excited to cross-blog!

With all the news surrounding the long-awaited new movie, The Muppets, Miss Piggy is making her comeback in a big way!  In the November issue of In Style, featuring Gwen Stefani on the cover, the beloved puppet siren puts all previous high-fashion centerfolds to shame with looks by designers like a feathered flapper dress by Jason Wu, a romantic LWD (little white dress) by Parabal Gurung, and many more!

It’s been a whole twelve years since we saw the Muppet crew on the big screen, but Miss Piggy is making every effort to steal the show, especially after an impressive 35 years in the entertainment business.  In the magazine, she discusses her relationship with Kermit, her fashion sense, what it was like to film with her old friends, and exactly what she thinks about her co-stars Jason Segel and Amy Adams. Not to mention that all of the looks that the famous pig models were custom-made for the diva, including strappy leopard pumps by Brian Atwood, gold-plated jewelry by Philip Crangi for Giles & Brother, a floral belted Suno dress, and sweet Opening Ceremony halter dress with ankle strap heels.

You can expect to see the movie in theaters on November 23rd and check out Movie Buzzers’ previous articles about the latest trailer and video, a parody trailer, and news on the movie’s soundtrack featuring OKGO, Weezer, and many more! Also, check back with Movie Buzzers at the end of the year since I’m sure Miss Piggy’s on screen style will put The Muppets on my Top 10 Most Stylish Movies of 2011 list!

Happy Styling!
