Today marks the last official day of spring, even though here on Long Island, the birds are chirping & the sun is shining like it’s summer. Stores & online retailers are fraught with swimwear, summer separates, & plenty of little dresses to go around, yet I’m starting to see fall fashion sneak up on us. Yes, I said fall! That’s what usually happens so that shopper stay ahead of the game, but I don’t really start my fall shopping until the end of August when I start receiving all those amazing birthday coupons that I’ve signed up for!

Anyway, if we’re gonna talk about fall, we might as well talk about shoes b/c fall is my favorite season of shoes. That’s when we can start thinking about suede, ankle booties, & multiple textures to build a crisp, yet chic fall ensemble. Show Me The Shoes / Color Me Style: Mint Is Back For Spring!

During this spring break, I’ve had plenty of time studying the latest spring trends & aside from bold bright, you can find plenty of pastels, including mint shoes that will make any outfit look fresh & spring-ready. After a recent conversation with an engaged friend about the difference between turquoise & teal for her upcoming nuptials, I was inspired to share the color mint. Of course this hue can be seen on dresses, blouses, pants, & accessories, but more importantly, I’m loving the idea of mint shoes, especially since there are so many affordable shoes.

mint shoesAdd mint to your flats collection with the Merona Macha wedge ballet flat ($19.50) from Target, which have a classic faux snake texture with any effortless tee & skinny jeans. Also, the canvas Bella skimmer ($19.50) from Delia’s offers a lighter material to contrast with a neutral leather mini & sleeveless button-down. If you’re headed to a tropical location on vacation before summer, the Steve Madden Swinger sandals ($49.95) is perfect for a maxi dress & stacked bangles, a cotton spring dress with a beaded necklace, or with walking shorts & a silky blouse.

This wouldn’t a proper shoe post if I didn’t talk about some major budget-friendly heels, like the patent cap toe platform pump ($32.50) from Charlotte Russe, which transitions the cap toe trend perfectly between seasons. The GOjane peep toe platform wedges ($24.95) are edgy for a look with leggings & a tunic top, & they’re on sale right now! The $100 Challenge: Dress Up An LBD Without Breaking The Bank!

Getting ready for the holidays is always fun, what with the parties, dinners, & gatherings with friends & family leading up to the end of the year. You don’t have to spend a lot to look like a million bucks, especially when you look around at all the latest sales going on online & in stores. First I wanted to start off with a chic LBD for my latest post in The $100 Challenge, which includes the cross front jersey dress ($22.50) in black from Old Navy. The flowy, figure-flattering shape is perfect for any time of year, especially when it’s an ideal foundation for fun & sparkly pieces.  Of course, while heading to parties, you can add a flirty topper like the open front cardigan ($17.90) from Windsor Store.

Show Me The Shoes: One Stop Shoe Shop For Day, Work, & Cocktail @Payless!

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of the styles @Payless, which is why I continue to share the best finds from the store for all seasons. Not to mention, while celebrating the holidays, you can hone your style a little better without breaking any budget with a special 20% off coupon code (82028) to ease any shopping stress & it expires on 12/19. 

I’ve selected styles that vary for occasions, including day, work, & evening. I believe in a versatile shoe, while getting the most for your money, which is why I’m starting off with the dexflex by Dexter Kappy toe pump ($16.49) in bronze, the most inexpensive of my quintet here.  I’ve been getting into the less popular metallics like copper, rose gold, & bronze, loving the way they offset some of this season’s trendiest colors.  Not only are they perfect for a pencil skirt & blouse for work, but will also contrast any powersuit. 

For some menswear inspiration, I love the Dexter Kylie wedge pump ($22.99) in grey-black plaid, which changes up a traditional wedge to a work-ready investment. Of course the pattern is specific, but you won’t do wrong with a lace-detail sweater with jeans for day or an embellished top & trumpet skirt for the office.

For the vintage lover out there, I love the latest from Project Runway winner Christian Siriano‘s Hadley t-strap pump ($34.99) in burgundy, which is the go-to color for fall & winter! This screams for some corduroy, tweed, or textured tights- always cute for a sophisticated night out with the girls or if you’re headed to the board room. 

We can’t talk about the holidays without bringing up any upcoming parties. If you’re not afraid of heights, I recommend the Silvia Tcherassi Lyon platform pump ($29.99) in tan, but it’s also sold in a very regal navy with the same luxe gold details.  Lastly, for the party girl & flirt, the Fioni Kipsie stitch peep toe heel ($29.99) is the perfect touch for a polka dot frock on a date.  There’s a special bow detail right at the toe, which is always a favorite of mine!

Actress Olivia Wilde is one of the most in-demand beauties hitting red carpets & every time she makes an appearance, the photogs emerge & fashion critics pay attention.  During a recent appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, the former House star dazzled in square neck black A.L.C. dress with Iwona Ludyga Design jewelry & red accented accessories.

Although I wasn’t able to recreate the exact little black dress, I’m crazy for this figure-flattering dress ($34.95) from H&M, which is also available in burgundy.

Luckily, I was able to find affordable accessories to bring this look together, including the metal trim waist belt ($4.80) from Forever 21, the Fioni glitz clutch ($16.99) from Payless, GOjane‘s low cut pumps ($23.80), & the dazzling Apt. 9 gold tone simulated crystal linear drop earrings ($13.00) from Kohl’s.

Quickie Darling Deal & Steal: The Black Peep Toes from Payless That’ve Lasted Me All Day!

I haven’t been loyal to any daily readers out there b/c I failed to post a blog for the day, but it’s still Wednesday & I’ve got a little time left & a little something to dish on.  See these shoes here?  I wore them all day today, from 8:30am until 10:00pm.  Of course my work day consisted of a lot of sitting time in my cubicle & then I drove back & forth to Southampton (1hr – 45min each way), so I’m cheating a little bit here. You dan’t deny that that’s a long day of the same pair of heels & I can’t complain one bit about how my feet feel!

I posted their red companion in a Quickie Darling Deal & Steal blog last month about suede shoes @Payless & I’m definitely kicking myself for not getting the red pair when I had the chance.  The sturdy heel & knot detail just scream a little bit Marilyn Monroe & they’re just so easy to add to just about any look.  Back in April, as seen in a Luxury Look-Alikes for Less posting, I was lucky enough to score the nude pair, which have lasted me all summer & into fall so far! They’re by far, my sexiest, most classic looking heels for when I want to be polished, but playful at the same time!

Right now these Fioni ‘Kutie’ knot platform pumps are on sale for $19.99, marked down from $27.99.  If you’ve got too many black shoes & are looking to spice things up with an unexpected pop of color, the navy ones are also on sale.  However, the black is only available in both regular & wide width sizes.

I wanted to share these b/c they were so stylish to go with my work outfit, consisting of a knee-length abstract print black & white pleated bubble skirt that I paired with a patent red Nine West belt & wore a tucked in black tissue tee to help show off my shape.  On top, I finished off my look with a white short-sleeved cardigan & went about my work day, earning a handful of compliments on my ensemble.  After, when I was headed to an Open House @SUNY Southampton for their MFA program (cross your fingers, I applied for the spring), I wanted to sit more comfortably in my car during the long, rainy commute.  So I changed into my dark denim bootcut jeans & a sparkly black long-sleeved cardigan over my untucked tee.  Somehow I had the time this morning to think of bringing my silver & gold braided belt to complete the very dark look.  I feared for the safety of my peep toes b/c it was raining pretty heavily, but now I’m home & they’ve withstood the elements successfully!
