Splurge or Save… on Bowed Ballet Flats?

‘Tis the season for texture & glamour! There’s one trend covering that & it’s bowed ballet flats in black with a gold metallic detail. This style has caught my eye on all price points, starting with luxury fashion brands, trickling down to affordable retail department stores. Whether you’re shopping for velvet, suede, or patent leather, the mixture with a luxe gold accent is sure to complete any on-the-go look, or chic professional ensemble. Try mixing these styles with a skinny jeans & cardigan outfit when jet setting for a comfortable day of travel, a sheath dress & statement necklace for a family dinner, or a blouse & pencil skirt for a job interview.

Bow Ballet flats - Salvatore Ferragamo @Saks Fifth Avenue $475.00, Kate Spade New York @FootNotesOnline $198.00, MICHAEL Michael Kors @Neiman Marcus $125.00, ALDO @DSW $39.95, & Forever 21 $22.90.

The above flats range in price, but investing in high style doesn’t have to be limited to a working girl’s budget. Luxury Look-Alikes For Less: Nude Cork Heels From Michael Kors Vs. Steve Madden!

In getting ready to switch my closet around from the heavy knits & suede boots that I wore in the fall / winter, I’m looking forward to reacquainting myself with the pieces that I haven’t worn since the end of last summer. This will include some of my favorite shoes, like nude cork pumps that are perfect for wearing with spring dresses.

Of course, I’m crazy about bright wedges, floral sandals, & laser cut ballet flats, but the nude pump is a spring / summer staple. I found the KORS Michael Kors glitter patent cork pump ($195.00), which combine the luxe exterior patent leather with the lightness of a cork heel. I really love the way these textures look together, adding lots of dimension to any LBD, sheath dress, or lace shorts & blouse look.

KORS Michael Kors Glitter Patent Cork Pump $195.00. Steve Madden Summer Blust Patent Pump $19.99.

Being that I’m not going to spend that much cash on a pair of shoes for the spring, I was happy to find a more affordable look-alike in the Summer blush patent pumps ($19.99) @Steve Madden. The shape of the shoe’s vamp is a little different from the Michael Kors design, but it still has the same features to match any spring / summer look. More affordable nude / cork combos for the upcoming spring / summer season include GOjane‘s platform cork wedges ($29.40), the canvas cork wedge ($29.50) from Wet Seal, & printed cork peeptoe heels ($32.80) from Forever 21.

Black Friday Sale Update: 30-50% Off Shoes, Sandals, Boots, & Handbags @ALDO!

I’ve been searching plenty of websites for the best outfits at the most affordable prices, but I haven’t forgotten about my love for footwear.  Once I checked out what was going on @ALDO shoes, I knew I had to share the latest markdowns for the Black Friday sale. There’s always a good reason to buy shoes on sale, including some sensible flats for the office, sexy pumps for a date night, & chic boots for a casual day of shopping with the girls.

The Patrin flats ($17.49) in cognac are the perfect way to finish off a belted sweater dress look with tights & they’re also sold in blue & fuchsia. Also, for a glitter glitz & glam, I love the Nottingham flats ($9.99) in blue, which will compliment any leather skirt & embellished blouse look.  For a more utilitarian look, I recommend the Mandina boot ($38.49) with skinny jeans & a plaid button-down. The sleek Sperow heels ($32.49) are ideal for sporting the cap toe trend with the contrasting texture, but they’ll also make any LBD look all the more fierce, especially when worn with textured tights.

Next is the Jonquiere heels ($32.49) with a classic platform for elongating the legline. Match these with a polka dot dress or a sleek red number & you’ll really be making an entrance.  The Korsen bootie ($39.99) plays with colorblocking, adding an unexpected twist with the regal cobalt & bright turquoise.  The feminine Laesser flats ($14.99) are a gorgeous pairing with a slipdress & boyfriend blazer for an effortless night out on the town.

Which shoes are your favorites? Would you buy your BFF a pair of shoes for the holidays? Happy Styling!
