Style ABC’s (x3): G is for Gucci, Gossip Girl, & Gisele Bundchen!

is for Gucci, Gossip Girl, & Gisele Bundchen! In the latest edition of Style ABC’s (x3), we’re taking a look at one of my favorite brands (even though I don’t own anything by it)… Gucci is an Italian fashion house, known mostly for its leather goods, but as you can tell by the runway & red carpet shots below, the brand is nothing short of modern, elegant, & chic!

Jennifer Lopez was seen at this year’s Met Costume Institute Gala (check out the red carpet here) in a fuchsia cut-out dress with a floral shrug & nearly stole the spotlight from the hundred of other fabulously-dressed celebrities who attended the prestigious formal event.  In addition, Jessica Alba wore the one-shoulder sparkling blue fitted dress at an event for the brand.  Also, Bridesmaids star Rose Byrne dazzled at last year’s Emmy’s in a white & gold Grecian-inspired gown (for more on the ceremony’s red carpet, click here).

If you’re looking to score some Gucci goods, then you’re gonna have to either head to the Gucci online boutique, or do some digging of your own on sites like Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s (accessories only), Bluefly, or Amazon.

Do you fancy yourself a Gucci girl?  What’s your favorite piece?  How much would you spend on a Gucci item?  What’s your favorite red carpet look by the designer?  For more on Gucci’s runway collections, check out In Style‘s designer dossier!

Gossip Girl is certainly not the television show to watch for quality drama & dialogue, but it’s definitely made an admirable attempt to step into the much younger Manolo Blahniks of the small screen likes of the Sex & the City ladies.

Now, there’s so much I can say to describe the fabulousness of Blair Waldorf (played viciously by Leighton Meester) & her sometimes BFFrenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen (played by the legging Blake Lively) in terms of their preppy, bombshell, girl-next-door, meets boho style.  Blair & Serena are the main focus of the melodrama, but over the years, the show has dressed up Taylor Momsen, Jessica Szhor, Hilary Duff, Katie Cassidy, Kelly Rutherford, & Michelle Trachtenberg in big name designer labels.  Below are some of the best looks that I wanted to share b/c you can’t have a “G”-themed blog without mentioning the show.  For more dirt behind the duds, check out In Style‘s Gossip Girl Profile.

Who’s your favorite Gossip Girl?  Do you follow the red carpet feud between Blake & Leighton?  If you could step into one of the character’s closets, whose closet would it be?  Do you think that the upper east side gals are dressing age-appropriately?

Gisele Bundchen is the highest paid model & has been since 2004.  How could you figure otherwise when you see the gorgeous Brazilian wife of Tom Brady looking super fabulous not just on, but off the runway as well?!  She’s got veteran supermodels like Naomi Campbell & Claudia Schiffer in her corner, & had posed for brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Missoni, & Balenciaga.

SIDENOTE: Do you remember the little scene in The Devil Wears Prada right before Anne Hathaway emerges from her Stanley Tucci-guided makeover?  Emily Blunt is complaining about Anne’s character Andy & then the ugly duckling comes in & there’s Gisele Bundchen in a leather pencil skirt & readers saying how good Andy looks!  The part always makes me laugh, although I’m hoping Gisele’s acting aspirations end there.

Most recently, Gisele attended Morgan Freeman’s AFI Achievement Award & stunned fashion critics in the ornate pewter Oscar de la Renta gown with a stunning hot pink belt (image on the far right).  The (relatively) new mom has got her body back in shape, making men & women everywhere drool!  The former Victoria’s Secret model works a runway & red carpet like no one else!  I can’t wait to see what else she has in store!

For more on Gisele’s style, check out STYLE.COM’s photo gallery of the model throughout her very enduring career in fashion. Happy Styling!

Style ABC’s (x3): F is for Fergie, Flats, & Forever 21!

is for Fergie, Flats, & Forever 21!

While it took me a long time to finally warm up to Fergie’s style, you can’t deny that the Black Eyed Peas frontwoman has got her look down! She’s confident on the red carpet & knows how to show off her curves. Not to mention that she’s got a killer voice that even landed her the part of Saraghina in Rob Marshall’s Oscar-nominated film,  Nine

Wearing the most fierce LBDs & well-coordinated rock & roll separates, she’s made Style Darling status pretty early on.  AND she has even branched out with her own line of shoes, perfect for making any pair of legs look as sensational as her.  Check out these satin heels, boots, backless animal print platforms, & flat sandals at her website to catch all the latest styles! Also, the multi-talented California native is the face & creator behind one of Avon’s best-selling fragrances, Outspoken

Forever 21 is a retailer sometimes criticized for copying styles & designs created by bigger brand names like Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. However, the fashion world is never without controversy, but all morals aside, this store is one of the most affordable & stylish around for teens & women of all ages. Sure, mini skirts & towering platforms aren’t recommended for all ages & sizes, but here’s a place where you can always find extra pieces to help amp up your look to the next level.  While the store doesn’t offer as wide of a size variety as I’d like for real women who shop at the mall, you can’t ignore the affordability factor, which is why I feature it so much.

You can mix & match these items with any number of other pieces from your favorite places to shop & they’d look just as luxurious & trendy, like the belted flowered skirt with a tucked in white tee for a picnic, a cuffed plaid shirt with the yellow shorts for a day of shopping with girlfriend, the preppy striped cardigan with a pleated skirt & ballet flats for a family event, the one-shoulder top would look awesome with some skinny jeans & suede platforms for a date night, & the black & white dress is a modern & flattering look for the office & happy hour!

No matter what size you are, there are always accessories to add that special finishing touch, including a big cocktail ring for your LBD & satin pumps, a quilted wallet for something in tweed or wool, or a colorful stack of bangles with a maxi dress & strappy sandals! I also love finding cute hair accessories like these clips & bobby pins to keep the cute going from head-to-toe.  And of course, last but not least, these nude platform heels are the ultimate in sexy & cost under $25!

Don’t forget to check out Love21, the stores contemporary & more mature brand, as well as the fashions in the Plus Size department, which includes tops, denim, sweaters, dresses, swimwear & outerwear.  For any expectant mothers out there on a budget, the website offers a maternity department with items costing only as high as $28!

For the men in your life, spruce up their style with some affordable tees, vests, & jackets from 21Men!  If you’re looking to start off your little one (a daughter- duh!) with some serious style, check out the Forever21Girls line with includes so many adorable tops, dresses, & accessories.  If these aren’t on your shopping list, hit up the site’s fun gift items for your next housewarming or bachelorette party!

Even though summer is all about sandals, flip-flops, & showing off your feet, flats in all shapes, colors, & styles work so well for many occasions.

For a quick run to the store, or while I’m having a day of errands, I always turn to my flats, even though I want to be buried with my high heel collection!  They’re classic, especially the ballet flats, so easy to match up with virtually any outfit, & even look great for evenings out on the town.

Try something with some jeweled or studded embellishment, an open toe or d’orsay, a style with floral or patterned details, metallic & animal prints, for your summer look with shorts, an eyelet dress, cut-off capris, or with a romper.

They’re an easy way to look stylish when you’re between pedicures, but also very affordable from stores like Forever 21, Aldo, Charlotte Russe, Steve Madden, Nine West, & Payless.  Happy Styling!

Style ABC’s (x3): E is for Emma Roberts, Elle for Kohls, & EDressMe!

is for Emma Roberts, one of the most talked about rising stars in the last year.  Yes, the connection to her aunt Julia helps, but she’s come into her own with roles in Valentine’s Day, It’s Kind of a Funny Story, & most recently Scream 4.  The spokesmodel for Neutrogena & fresh-faced star of the upcoming comedy Adult World, has been hitting the red carpets of movie premieres, film festivals, & charity events. The petite star is one of my newest favorites for her sense of style & sense of humor.  Here we see her in a variety of chic looks which include a sexy cocktail dress by Escada, a Temperley London tunic dress, a trendy separates outfit by Z Spoke by Zac Posen, & also a youthful casual look in skinny jeans & a shrunken blazer.

@Kohl’s, you’ll find a stylish array of affordable designers like Lauren Conrad, Vera Wang, Daisy Fuentes, Dana Buchman, & also  a collection inspired from the pages of ELLE magazine.  The ELLE collection features clothing, accessories, & home decor all at a decent price.  Take these five pieces, for example, which can be mixed & matched with any number of other pieces that you currently have in your wardrobe.

The LBD is darling to pair with some suede platforms & a black wristlet for a date night.  The blue ruffled top is a flirty take on a basic tee that is perfect for bootcut jeans or cuffed capris & strappy wedges for a luncheon on the weekend. I love ruffled floral blouses for their feminine flair, even with cuffed jeans & a ruched shopper handbag when you’re out & about shopping. These chambray shorts are so cute for a pintuck floral tee & wedge slides for a picnic in Central Park on a sunny spring day.  For an evening party, pick out these nude pumps for shirtdress or a chiffon empire printed dress. Don’t forget that nude pumps like these are super flattering for elongating the legline (as per a previous blog here).

EDressMe is a website that offers cocktail looks, separates, & everything you may need for a formal event, including prom dresses!  One of my favorite parts of this site is the variety of celebrity-inspired gowns.  Give it just a few days after a big awards show like the Oscars or the Grammys & this site will have knockoff of the designer names worn by celebrities like Carrie Underwood (click here), Halle Berry (click here), & Anne Hathaway (click here).  I’ve selected three knock-offs to show with their red carpet inspirations.  Although the knock-offs still cost a few hundred dollars, it’s really a bargain if you’re seeking to recreate a memorable night of making fashion history! EDressMe is also great for looking for those finishing touches for your special occasion with an elegant selection of footwear, clutches, shrugs, & under garments.  Take a look also at their clearance items up for 90% off! Happy Styling!

Style ABC’s (x3): D is for Diane Kruger, Dolce & Gabbana, & d’Orsay Pumps!

is for Diane Kruger, the gorgeous German actress / model who is probably best known for her Golden Globe nominated role in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds.  She had her first big break with Troy as the beautiful Helen, but has made headlines in the fashion world, donning every designer under the sun!  She is currently the face of Calvin Klein Beauty & is a red carpet A-lister in Prabal Gurung, Chanel, & Lanvin.  Here are just some of her most fabulous looks, including casual chic, cocktail, formal, & uber glam!

Dolce & Gabbana are the Italian designing duo behind the label of the same name, as well as D&G.  It’s hard to ignore a chic & sophisticated designs when they come down the runway.  However, their collections span everything from formal red carpet-wear to flirty cocktail pieces and separates.  With fans like Scarlett Johansson (who is the spokes model for the brand’s cosmetics line), Blake Lively, & Jennifer Aniston, this is a brand that everyone knows for its luxury & quality.  Here are just a few looks from Jessica Alba at the Venice Film Festival in an all-over floral print dress, Reese Witherspoon receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a cute polka dot pencil dress, & Eva Mendes in a red & black leopard ballgown at a red carpet event.

Courtesy of In Style, here are two looks straight from their Spring 2011 Collection from Fashion Week. If you’re interested in shopping for Dolce & Gabbana looks, check out Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, & Nordstrom

A d’orsay Pump is “a woman’s shoe in which the vamp of the shoe is cut away very close to the toe box, & the sides are cut away, revealing the arch of the foot,” as per About.com. They’re classic for many events, revealing a little more foot cleavage, especially with bows, peep toes, ruffles, & luxurious fabrics like satin.  Here are some choices that make for a stylish finishing touch to your favorite LBD, belted sheath, & floral number.  You can find affordable styles from famous brand like Jessica Simpson Collection, Anne Klein, & Steve Madden from discount retailers like 6pm, Shoe Buy, & Zappos!  Happy Styling!

Style ABC’s (x3): C is for Cardigans, Camilla Belle, & Carolina Herrera!

is for cardigans– one of my all-time favorite pieces for any outfit.  While most stylists (like What Not To Wear‘s Stacy London & Clinton Kelly) say that jackets & blazers really finish off a look, I find (for my personal style) that cardigans are what makes your look a little more polished, preppy, & feminine.  They’re super comfortable & great for layering when you want to add dimension to basics like a pullover tee, lacy tank, or jersey dress.  For more ornate & detailed tops like a patterned blouse & tiered skirt, a solid cardigan is your best option. For a solid sheath dress & neutral pumps, add a cardigan with subtle ruffles or special details to create more luxurious texture.  I always rely on stores like New York & Company, Forever 21, & White House Black Market to find trendy pieces to mix & match for a variety of occasions.

Camilla Belle may not be known by mainstream audiences for her movie roles just yet, but the child actress turned red carpet darling has been making headlines in the fashion world in designs by Carlos Miele, Ralph Lauren Collection, Dior, & the late great Alexander McQueen.  With her striking, dark features like unconventionally thick & dramatic eyebrows & sun-kissed skintone, she may just be the next Sarah Jessica Paker!  No longer with longtime beau, Joe Jonas, this Los Angeles-native is showing off her sexy & elegant single girl style.  For a full dossier on Camilla’s red carpet looks, head to In Style‘s Star Finder, Style.com, & The Fashion Spot.  I can’t wait to see what the 10,000 BC star will be wearing next!

Carolina Herrera is one of those designers that you can almost recognize when a celebrity wears one of her dresses.  With famous followers like Renee Zellweger, Amy Adams, & Emmy Rossum, it’s no wonder that Herrera is one of today’s most sought after designers for red carpet events like the Golden Globes or the Oscars.  Take a look at Renee in this strapless blue & gold sparkly princess gown at a German awards show, as well as Glee‘s Dianna Agron wearing a strapless jacquard & organza dress at the 2010 Breakthrough of the Tear awards in L.A.

As for Herrera’s runway collection, every gown, dress, & separate screams screen siren in a vintage Hollywood kind of way that only Herrera knows how to capture.  If you’re interested in shopping this designer’s very decadent Spring 2011 Collection, check out Shop Style for direct links & prices for items sold at Bergdorf Goodman & Saks Fifth Avenue, ranging from $495 into the thousands! Happy Styling!

Style ABC’s (x3): B is for Brights on the Bottom, Blake Lively, & Betsey Johnson!

is for Brights on the Bottom! This is one of spring’s best trends & here we see Jennifer Hudson & Anna Kendrick wearing bubble gum magenta & kelly green on their lower halves.  While Jennifer is showing off her new sleek frame in a hot pink mini skirt, Anna enhances her boyish frame with some extra punch of playfulness.  Don’t be afraid of bolder hues on your bottom half, just be aware of fit & style.  Not to mention that playing these trends up is only successful when paired with neutral items like a white top & black blazer, or a basic tank to emphasize an already gam-revealing skirt! Here are two bright items to help you get started!

Blake Lively is the it-girl in fashion RIGHT NOW, no matter how much people talk about Alexa Chung or Leighton Meester.  Blake gets it right every time, which is why Chanel has asked the Gossip Girl star to be their handbag ambassador.  You can almost never find the actress without a Chanel piece, or anything designer for that matter.  At the 2009 Emmy Awards, she really turned heads in a bright red plunging-v Versace gown, setting her apart from her other fashion-frenzied peers.  Whether walking the red carpet or talking on her phone down the streets of New York, she’s the epitome of everything that’s going on in fashion & we’ll definitely be seeing more of her!

Betsey Johnson is a designers who knows how to make a woman feel sexy, especially with shoes! Whether you’re in a LBD or jeans & a tank, just pop on a pair of her sexy platforms or sandals, & you’re gonna wow anyone you come across!  Not only does the fun & flirty designer create shoes, but accessories, clothing, handbags, & intimate apparel are also included in her bright arsenal of style.  These peep-toe mary janes are from the official website & the top, bangle, & slingbacks are reduced priced @6pm & Zappos!  Happy Styling!

Style ABC’s (x3): A is for Audrey Hepburn, American Idol, & Ann Taylor!

is for Audrey Hepburn, one of the most beautiful women to have ever graced the big screen, & an obvious choice to start out Style ABC’s blog series.  The star of Breakfast at Tiffany’s & Roman Holiday effortlessly changed the way we perceived Hollywood style & glamour into minimalist chic. She created the timeless LBD look & has inspired celebrities today, like Natalie Portman, Victoria Beckham, & Penelope Cruz, to follow in her very prestigious footsteps. For more dish on Audrey’s signature style, check out Steal Their Style, Allure, In Style, & Look Book Fashion! Some additional Audrey-inspired looks include Ellen Page, Bridget Moynahan, Julia Ormond, & Scarlett Johansson!

On American Idol, Jennifer Lopez  has stormed the small screen in every appearance!  Not only are audiences watching to see the competition, but I know half of why I’m watching is to see what the multi-talented fashion icon is wearing!  She sports uber-feminine ruffles, throwback scarves, glamour girl bombshell sparkles, modern minimalism, & 80’s chic all in a matter of a few weeks.  Especially after Jennifer’s recent appearance at this year’s Grammy’s, she’s proved that she still a fabulous force to be reckoned with! Stayed tuned for American Idol every Tuesday & Wednesday night on FOX for more lessons on style!

Ann Taylor is a classy brand name that mixes soft with chic in a very wearable way.  Celebrities like Heidi Klum, Naomi Watts, Milla Jovovich, & currently Katie Holmes star in the ad campaigns for this brand, which has branches for a more youthful demographic in LOFT, as well as a super stylish maternity line.  The clothing ranges from wedding to cocktail to work to everyday with ease & elegance.
