Starting September 6th, Oscar-Grammy-winner Jennifer Hudson will be debuting her very first eponymous collection for QVC, featuring elegant dresses, flowy tops, slimming leggings, & jackets. Courtesy of In Style, Style Darling is sharing a sneak peek at the collection that’s priced under $170. The American Idol alum told the magazine, “I wanted to focus on being comfortable, but being cute at the same time. I was [inspired by] Michael Kors, because I feel that he focuses on the ‘real woman,’ you know? Every curve.“
The actress / singer is definitely keeping busy, launching this line, while also joining the cast of Smash for its second season this fall. Take a look at the collection & mark your calendar’s for the line’s QVC debut! Happy Styling!
Jenni Kayne isn’t a designer that I talk about a lot, but when I saw these images for her Resort 2013 Collection, I was super excited, as always, to share them with readers. I think the style is preppy, but still minimalist in a fashion-forward way. Celebs like Chloe Sevigny or Alexa Chung are likely to take pieces from this collection & incorporate them into their own style. Not to mention that baring your midriff is all the rage right now & if you’re away on vacation & have the abs to pull of some of these looks, then go for it!
Fall??? Is it time to start thinking about fall already? Well, the fashion industry is, even though we’re all still crazy shopping for summer deals. However, when July 4th rolls around, that’s when you’ll see all the back-to-school ads, featuring jeans, pullover sweaters, & boots… & speaking of boots, I nearly died with glee when I saw these latest Miu Miu boots for their fall collection.
Available @Neiman Marcus, the zip-back glitter bootie ($790.00) is a sexy mix of disco-goddess meets retro glam. I really can’t wait to see a celebrity donning these, either in silver, gold, or black, but in the mean time, we can add these daring dazzlers to our Super Style Wishlist. I always love me some booties & can picture these worn with a really fabulous pair of silk dress shorts & a blazer on someone like Lauren Conrad, Blake Lively, or Selena Gomez. Happy Styling!
When it comes to style, two cartoon characters always come to mind. I have no shame in saying that I’m crazy for Hello Kitty- I mean, she’s almost always wearing a coordinating bow with her outfit! Who wouldn’t love that?? Also, Betty Boop is high up on my fabulous list & I was delighted to find that the legendary character is starring alongside Canadian model Daria Werbowy for Lancôme‘s new Hypnôse Star Mascara, which retails for about $26.00. The beauties are batting their lashes in the ad, but you can watch this behind-the-scenes video, courtesy of FashionEtc, featuring interviews with the model in a glamorous black sequin dress.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted a video, so I was very happy to find this one, especially when I’m always looking to learn about the best finds to add to my cosmetic arsenal. Happy Styling!
Whenever I see 80% off in a store window, I’m most likely there, but since I’ve been sick with a double ear infection for the last week (still trucking along to Brooklyn though), my shopping outings have been minimal- not to mention that super tight budget that I’m on. However, if I can score a major deal on a dress, top, or bottom that will change my entire wardrobe, then the rules fly right out the window. When I saw that New York & Company, my former stomping grounds, was having a super duper blowout summer sale, I knew I had to start clicking around b/c this is a truly limited-time sale. If you haven’t signed up already to receive emails from the store, then get on it! Not only are there perks for your birthday just for signing up, but you’ll get loads of coupon deals & news on the latest sales.
My number one recommendation for this sale is the split neck interlock dress ($24.46) in black, which has been reduced 30% from its original $34.95 price tag. This quintessential LBD is perfect for belting with something bright or metallic, layering with a cardigan or scarf, or if you’re not into showing off the gams, break out some wild leggings or tights. The shape of the dress is modern, yet classic all at the same time & there’s no such thing as too many little black dresses.
I’ve recently had the brain fart (excuse the expression) of not knowing what to wear when I get up in the morning- if I’m tired, the weather’s too hot, or I’m not feeling 100%- but a dress like this is no-fail! In addition, it’s one of those perfect pieces that translates beautifully from day to evening. Replace those ballet flats with some slingback platforms & you’re a whole new Style Darling! Happy Styling!
I’m always a big fan of reading Vogue, the epicenter of fashion when it comes to periodicals, but I don’t very often post about their spreads, even though they’re always super gorgeous. However, the July issue of the magazine has caught my eye & I can’t get it off my mind. It-girl Emma Stone makes her debut on the cover, showing off her sultry screen siren side, versus a Mad Hatter-inspired playful menswear look, wearing duds by famous names like Jil Sander, Ralph Lauren, Prada, Versus, Dries Van Noten, & Givenchy by Riccardo Tischi, just to name a few.
The now blonde-tressed actress is in high demand, making the red carpet rounds while promoting The Amazing Spider-Man, opposite rumored beau Andrew Garfield. Surely, Stone’s red carpet looks are jaw-dropping, but I still can’t get over how the fair-skinned funny girl has transformed into a Style Darling on the rise in the pages of the magazine.
Check out the dazzling images that I’ve included int his edition of Magazine Must-Haves, & if you’re like me, desperate to pin your favorite fashion images to a bulletin board, or keep mag cut-outs in a binder for inspiration, then this issue is the must-have! Happy Styling!
Of course movie stars get a lot of credit for showing up to premieres & awards shows in couture gowns, but some of the faces that we see on a weekly basis on the small screen don’t always get the credit they deserve, or attention for their fabulous red carpet style. In this edition of Red Carpet Review, the stars who walked the red carpet at this week’s Critic’s Choice Television Awards stepped up their style in gorgeous cocktail dresses, jaw-dropping gowns, & classic designs. Some of my favorites of the night include Shameless star Emmy Rossum in a stunning gold Donna Karan dress, Kate Walsh of Private Practice in a sparkling yellow Jenny Packham mini, the cutest geek on TV Zooey Deschanel in a sweet belted Oscar de la Renta dress, & the always lovely Julianne Moore, who won for her role as Sarah Palin in Game Change, in a body-conscious Jason Wu dress. Check out the styles & leave comments of who you think got it right! Happy Styling!
I’ve been very serious lately about my Runway Rundown posts, featuring all the latest designs debuting on the catwalk & one that I was especially excited to see was the Resort 2013 collection by Derek Lam. I found a link to Elle that showed me the proportionally creative line, featuring separates that are likely to be seen on stars like Angelina Jolie, Alexa Chung, or Emma Stone this season. While some of it is meant to thrive on the runway, there are plenty of opportunities for inspiration here, especially mixing prints in your own wardrobe. Also, playing with structure & menswear inspiration is always a fun way to reinterpret old favorites. Click through the gallery & share which looks make your wishlist! Happy Styling!
I know I last posted about an amazing deal on Christian Siriano shoes from Payless, but this Father’s Day weekend, I happened to be at my local Payless store when I came across these Mallory wood wedge sandal ($16.99). I tried them on just for fun, but fell in love right away. They were different than any other wedge that I had & for once, I actually loved the combination of the thick straps & the multiple thin straps. Of course, I have no idea what to wear them with (for the moment), but I scrambled through my emails on my iPhone to find the 20% off coupon code. The box showed a marked down price of $24.99 from its original $29.99, but was I gleeful when they rang up for $16.99. After my coupon, these wedges came out to an impressive $14 & change. I’m saving them for one very special day, but I’ll be sure to post pics since these shoes are just too good to be true! They’re also available black, brown, coral, & pewter with alternating gold or silver accents.
These shoes are still on sale & if you’re looking to build up your summer footwear collection, then be sure to check out the latest BOGO 50% off sale going on right now @Payless!
Always & forever, Christian Siriano, will be one of my favorite Project Runway winners, especially since he continues to stay relevant with shoppers beyond the runway with his ever-evolving collection @Payless. Aside from his styles being super chic for the mainstream public, I’m loving that his designs, like these Rosa strappy toe sandals ($29.99), are currently marked down from their original $62.99 price! These are daring heels, especially with such a slim 4.5-inch heel, but with the right simmer dress & accessories, you’ll look like you spent a lot of money on a look that’s so affordable that only a true Style Darling will understand!
There’s no such thing as too many shoes, especially when you have two very eager feet to wear them! I should also mention that Payless is offering a special in-store & online Father’s Day 20% discount code: 73574, valid until 6/17 only! Also, for a little bit of Project Runway news, the newest seasons starts 7/19 @10pm on Lifetime! Happy Styling!
